If your laptop has a HDMI port then you could conect it to the reciever that way. Else if it doesn't, I would recommend a cable like this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=666&seq=1&format=2 that will go out of your computer's headphone jack and then into the receiver.

well I have a work around and a solution possibly. first go threw your menu audio and verify external speakers are not turned off. if there is no setting or it is turned on already try a different video/audio input if nothing else if you have good picture you can use a stereo reciever to play the sound you do not have to input audio into the tv if you have surround sound go straight from your device(dvd, vcr,cable box etc.) to your sereo reciever just the audio plugs (red and white, not yellow unless you have a monitor out from your stereo in which you conect all three to the stereo input then one cable from the monitor out on the stereo to the tv in put

hi there alot of the updates for the system should automaticly download via ariel to the tv to keep you up to date some times if the strenght of the signal isnt srong enough then you might not get the update they send out , one thing i have found is that if you use an ariel booster then this makes the signal stronger this helps particularly if you have more than one tv set up with the same ariel, you could try unpluging all ariels to other tvs making sure the ariel lead you are using has no conections in it as this also gives you loss of signal if there are multiple conections in the lead runing from the ariel to your tv set hope this helps some

are you using hdmi leads and how are you recieving hd are you recieving it through a box

Most of the time its the amps that are bad and need changing. This will be transistors on heatsink in the reciever. Part number should be on the amp.
