Latitude 820 formatted, drivers lost

Hi
A friend of mine asked me to help formatting her Dell Latitude 820 laptop, since it was so full of viruses she couldn't even start it up. She gave me a pack of never opened system-CD/DVDs that came with the computer. However, after formatting and installing a fresh OS, some important drivers are lost and I can't find them on the CDs or on Dell's homepage. Most important, I can't connect to the internet so I have tried to download drivers via another computer, to a USB-stick. Doesn't help, still a lot of yellow ?s in the Dell... The CDs say they belong to the Inspiron-series, does this matter? She claims these are the only CDs she has. She leaves for Germany soon (I live in Sweden) so I have to fix this asap.
Thanks in advance!

Yes it matters! You need to go to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag",(serial number) of the 820 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.

My dell latitude d820 was formated and lost sound drivers and even webcam driver..help get them back_

The best thing to do is to go to Dell's website. They have a support and drivers section. From there, you can either put in your service tag or select your model. You should be able to find all of the drivers that you are missing there.

I want drivers

Hi There,

If you take a look at:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=gen

From that page you can select one of three ways to identify your laptop. I would suggest going with "Select Model". Next it will ask for product family, select "Laptop". Next you want "Latitude", and finally at the top you want "100L". Now just click "Confirm".

The next page will just ask what language and version of Windows you want the drivers for. From there you can download and install the ones you need.

Hope this helps :)

Dell

You will have to order it from www.dell.com, but if you have a retail copy of Windows, you can install that, and then download/install all of the necessary device drivers at this link
