Soap dispensor door opens, but powder soap mostly stays in the cup
Powder soap is still half full, but mushy in the cup at the end of the cycle. The door opens, but the powder soap is not fully emptied by the wash cycle. Leaves mushy soap in the cup, and on some dishes. Powder soap is new, dry and grainey when poured into the cup before closing soap cup door. We are using light cycle cup only and light cycle wash.

Bought new spray arms online and installed them inminutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if theheating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... think you mean one compartment staying full of water this would be for softner or if the soap powder is staying in the drawer then a blocked pipe to the drum could clog useing to much powder at one time best results are put soap strait in the drum then cant clog i am an domestic engineere and have seen this problem a number of times
This has become a huge problem and a big misunderstanding on what the white dried residue is on your dishes.....IS it hard water probably not . Due you use liquid or powder soap and fill both soap compartments !!!!ow<br />

well here is a solution first stop using to much soap!!! <br />
most people only need no more than a tablespoon of soap.... powder or liquid..total... dont forget that powder soap can go bad in those card board boxes in a humid enviorment,,,( under the sink) remove and discard any soap that's clumpy and pour rest in a tupperware dish...<br />

so here is how to remove white residue off dishes...<br />

Fill your kitchen sink with hot water no soap and 1 cup of vinegar let dishes soak dont let water cool scour dishes in sink no soap rinse them and air dry all dishes .... some dishes may be ruined due to how long white residue had been on them called etching..... now we need to clean the dishwasher start dishwashere like normal no soap and let run for few seconds when dishwasher starts to fill open door and pour in atleast 2 cups of vinegar close door and let dishwasher run cycle repeat necessary till residue is of wash arms racks door and cabinet walls ... these steps need to be repeated in most cases a few times ...
sounds like the dispensor is faulty or the control board is faulty.do u have an electrical test meter to test 4 the fault? please reply if u need more help. if you are in australia conia have gone bust but if u reply i can give u the name of a place that might have a dispensor, if that is the problem.
does the cycle complete?. if it does and your dispensor is not open, then your dispensor is faulty. try opening it by hand, remove old powder, refill with 2 tablespoons of powder,select fast programme and see how you go. if your cycle is not completing then let us know what it is doing instead.
I bet your clumps of soap began with the beginning of the use of a different DW detergent powder.
Try this (trust me) Go buy a box of brand name Dishwasher powder (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) Use it for two loads of dishes and report your results back here. OK?
sounds as if you amy have a problem with the dispensor door not opening correctly perhaps opening at end of cycle when all water is already released.Ive seen that sometimes the "tabs" or "packets of detegent are too tall and interfere with normal opening of the latch mechanism. manufacture would reccommend using powder instead.
Symptoms: Dispenser lid is open. Caked powder at (what would be during normal
operation) bottom edge of soap dispenser or caked powder fallen onto
dishes or dishwasher bottom. There may be loose powder in rest of
dispenser or spilled down inside door or onto dishes underneath
dispenser.
Solution:
Keep the area around the soap dispenser lid clear when loading the top tray.
Explanation:
The soap dispenser needs to swing open during the wash cycle. In many
dishwashers the top tray has an indentation as wide as the lid of the
dispenser. This allows the top tray to be as large deep as possible
while still allowing space for the dispenser lid to open. People often
pack their dishwasher with things overhanging this gap.
During the wash cycle the catch will release but the overhanging cutlery
or crockery prevents the lid from opening all but a few degrees. Some
water will splash in but not enough to wash out the soap powder. The
soap powder at the bottom of the dispenser will then cake.
When the front door is opened the spring loaded lid, which is partly
open, will of course swing fully open and you'll be convinced that the
lid opened normally during operation. If this is the problem then if
you're very careful and open the door very slowly you can actually hear
the lid flip open. Also, depending on when the lid opens, how far it
opened during operation and how fast you open the door you may find soap
powder spilled down to cover the dishes at the front or down the inside
of the door. This happens when you first open the door and obviously
there couldn't be loose powder there if the powder had emerged while
there was water washing around. Seeing the lid open as you open the door
is a lot harder but can be done on some machines.
If you are you using a liquid soap or packets that will be the main problem.If your unit fills with water circulates the water and drains the water,and also heaters are working then you probally need to change to cascade powder soap.The film on the dishes is soap.The unit has so much build up in it that when it gets to the rinse cycle it is rinsing dishes with soapy water.You need to get 2 medium bowls fill both 2/3 up with white vinager,place one in upper rack and one in lower rack and run unit on longest cycle letting the vinager splash out during wash.do this with no soap and no dishes.Having soft water will allow you to use less soap.
Before taking anything to bits, check you aren't just loading the machine in such a way that something (for us, it's usually a frying pan) is stopping the soap dispenser from springing open all the way.
