Why doesn't my double burner work?

This electric glass top range has 4 burners, left front being a "double" burner which can accomodate a large pan or a smaller one. This is my favorite "burner" and I've noticed in the last couple of days that the small burner works fine but the large one seems to be intermittant heating on lower temperature settings but not on "Hi". Can it be the knob or the element or both?

I wouldnt be surprised if its not the resistance for the lower temperature ,now as to if its in the knob or a electronic controlled resistance i would have no idea ,its not the element i wouldnt have thought as it should have a resistance but yes its possible the element has two windings in it best thing to do is to ask in the spares shop as they will know straight away

I have a kenmore stove model number 790,72403012 and 3 of the 4 burners are working. They all are getting a spark, but the front left won't fire up.

First, try to light the burner in question with a match. Just hold a match to the burner, then turn the gas on to low. If the burner doesn`t light, the problem is the gas supply to the burner. Next, lift the top cover and put the prop rod in the hole in the cover to support it. Hold a match to the left-front burner. Now, turn the control knob to "light". You should see the igniter spark and hear a snap. If this doesn`t happen, repeat this step with the left rear burner. If you hear the spark and snap.
If the igniter doesn`t work on the front left burner, but does on the rear left burner, the igniter does work. The problem is likely the control knob for the left front burner. The. Control knob includes the electrical switch the activates the igniter when you turn on that burner.

Cooktop light doesn't shut off

The temperature sensor located on the that element is failing. the sensor red light reminds you that the burner area is still hot. The light should go out once the glass top has cooled, but the failing sensor won't allow it. A slight rap with your hand on glass top over that burner once cool will put the light out. It more than likely continue until the unit is replaced.

Start off by removed the trim pieces (careful they scratch easily). Then you should be able to raise remove the glass top - careful that you secure it somewhere that it doesn't fall over and break.

Kenmore glass top range left front large burner out

check the burner socket, it is likely that contact is being lost where the burner connects to the hardwired portion of the system (the socket). It is not unusual for the socket to "burn up" when there is a poor connection to the burner resulting in the burner being replaced and the new burner not working or working intermittently.

Burner on range will not turn off

Look at the back of your range there should be schemetic for your power control board. look for defective burner wire going into relay. There should be 5 relays in rows. Realy is the problem. I had the same problem with my front left burner stuck on high.
After replacing everything works okay.
