Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

GE spacemaker microwave turns off during cooking and display goes black

Step 1:

Door Switch

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and then shuts off, a door switch might have failed intermittently. Check each of the door switches for any signs of overheating, arcing, or burning. Also check each of them for continuity. Replace any of the switches that is visibly damaged or that only has continuity intermittently

Step 2:

Main Control Board

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops there may be a short circuit in the main control board. Check other components first, these boards are often misdiagnosed.

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the touchpad and control panel might be defective. There are several other components that can cause this problem, be sure to check any other components before replacing this board.

Touchpad

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the touchpad might be at fault. This is not common. Generally speaking, if the microwave display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad.

High Voltage Transformer

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the high voltage transformer might have an intermittent short. This is not common. Check other components related to the microwave symptom first.

Thermostat

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the thermostat might be defective. Watch our video on testing thermostat

Machine will not work and displays "CL" in the LED display.

The "CL" code is not an error code it means Child Lock. Try pressing the buttons together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.
Or press for over 5 seconds. Another option is press till the light goes off.

LED displaying cl

Hi nicciwonnaco,

The "CL" code is not an error! This means "Child Lock".
Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.
Or press "end of cycle" for over 5 seconds.
Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

LCD starts to display for about 2 seconds then goes dark.

lamp(s) perhaps.... with an LCD monitor (the desktop kind) you can shine a lite behind it. if you can see things on the screen it's the lamps... if you can't it's something else.
