HI,
Your treadmill have problem with the motor control board. The motor control IGBT is faulty thats why its stars at high speed and shuts off immediately by sensing over current drain. The solution is replacing the motor control board or replacing the IGBT on the motor control board. To replace the IGBT you should have a through knowledge in electronics. If you need any more assistance feel free to contact me through FixYa.

SOURCE: I have a proform xp 580. when I turn it on,
Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key.
Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.
Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
After completing calibration of incline, press the Stop key and then remove the safety key.
SOURCE: My ProForm 750 only runs at low speed. Varying
If u r seeing the increasing variation takeing effect on the panel but the speed does not increase in real, then there is nothing wrong with the push button for sure.
what it could be is ,
1. Your motor is getting overheat quickly and does not accept the higher speed commands.
2. it could be a belt slip also (do u hear any extra noice / vibration when u increase speed)
3. next time, pls unplugg the unit for atleast 4 hrs and when u start after that increse the speed very next moment and see if it works. if it does increase this way then it is time take look first on the belt ans then check the motor.
Good luck.
SOURCE: My Proform 730 worked great
hi, do you have the instruction booklet if so check if your treadmill uses oil. alot of treadmills use oil just like a car. and if it dosent get some wd40 spray and with the power off give the motor a spray and the rollers. the same thing happened to me and i sprayed the motor every moving part i could see. then i left the treadmill on without standing on it for half an hour and its been working better than before. please note wd40 spray can smell abit so open the windows. hope i have helped!
SOURCE: When i push the start
It could be just the sensor that has moved.
Refer to Page 22/23 of the Manual at the link below regarding the required gap.

Of course check every connections loose, corroded, bad contact, tight, and clean every contact with special spray ( cleaner contact)
