I just configured a new laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T500) for a user here in the office. He is set up to scan documents from the Bizhub directly to the shared scans folder on the root c: drive of his new laptop. However, when I perform a test scan, the Bizhub shows "forward tx error". He did not have a problem scanning documents to his old laptop (Alienware D9T). I checked the user settings within the Bizhub (the Bizhub looks for the destination computer via computer name and not IP address). All the settings within the Bizhub and on the destination PC look ok. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have setup a fax forward box.
You need to set up a one touch, scan to SMB.
this can be easily done via your web browser by typing in the IP address of the MFP and set it from there.
You need the IP address of the laptop and is best to put the shared folder in the main drive (C).
Then for the file path you just need to enter the name of the shared folder EXACTLY as it is on the lap top.
You also MUST enter the ID a password to give it access.
