put the modem in bridge mode and then connect a DSL/cable router to it...you'll have to configure the PPOE if its DSL... Cable is a little easier because there usually is a MAC authientication not username and password...plug dsl/cable router into cable modem...turn both off for about aminute then turn modem on first then router... Be careful most routers with wireless have it enable with no security by default...turn it off or set securty (wirelss that is)

Modems dont need drivers, only the NIC in the PC....ensure that the NIC is working properly in the "Device Manager". If not youll need a working NIC 1st. Then youll need to contact your ISP for propper configuration of the modem.
