Hello! The Brake Light Switch is the likely culprit...Check fuse # 8 (10A) Dash fuse box first...On the Brake Switch connector; The Pink/Black wire should have 12 volts when brake is depressed...If it does the second choice is the Shift Lock Solenoid isn't pulling...Lets check the first choice and eliminate it before moving to the next...Send a comment...Guru...saailer

2005 Hyundai accent gear shift stuck in park after brake failure

Make sure the brake lights are coming on if not the release solenoid that unlocks park gets no power and will not release the shifter from park position. Also check the owner's manual for a possible way to override the solenoid lock.

Hyundai accent won't shift out of park

You do have your foot on the brake when trying to shift ehh. If so could be a faulty brake to shifter cable.
Remove the center console and check that applying the brake de-activates the lock on the shifter

I own a 2004 Hyundai Accent. I'm not able to shift out of park. I've tried the shift over ride and that worked once, now it doesn't H E L P !

Have someone look at the Brake lights when you press the Brake pedal. Your car needs the Brake switch to unlock the Shifter. If you do not have working Brake lights, then that is the problem.
There is a safety Lock-out which requires the Brakes to be on when you try to move the gearshift out of Park. Sometimes the switch gets bumped or broken by your feet getting in or out of the car. I work on Ford family Brands and this is how the shifter releases on them.

You can call an autoparts store and ask about this safety switch. On your car, they may have a cycling phase switch which may be the reason the temporary fix was temporary. Until the switch is recycled, it may not work.

About the only thing I can think of to give you 1 more start is to remove the NEG battery terminal a few minutes and then reconnect it. Then try to start it and override the system like you did once.

I've only owned the vehicle for 2 days (2004 Hyundai Accent). Driving down the road the road the fuel gauge goes from full to empty...then after 30 mins back to full again. Can you help? Thanks,

Wandering fuel guages are associated with a bad fuel pump/sending unit in the tank. Probably one of the reasons it was for sale. will be about $200 for unit and $100 to change. Check your warranty for coverage.
Good luck

I have a Hyundai Accent 2000, My shift is locked in Park unless I use shift lock over ride?

i would check the wires on the brake switch, make sure you don't have a broken wire. if the wires look good tap on the brake switch and then try putting it in to drive if it works then yomight need the replace the brake switch. but also that all of your fuses are good. somtimes that will do it also. try that good luck

Gear shift is stuck in park

mine did the same, you need to stick a pen, or in my case a pair of scissors in the shift over-ride.
