you just dial *#7370# and off you go, your firmware will be refreshed,,, it worked for me with that same problem..dont be alarmed when the screen goes dark. it is just normal...be sure to back up your phone contacts

the problem is you are using windows 7 , it does not supports some of the old version of software, try to download new software from official size for win7, or try to format using phoenix by usb cable

yes it is possible to update your software over internet directly from PC suit but only updation you can not install firmware by using PC suit (if your phone is seitch off due to software corruption) you have to install a firmware (RM-237 latest version)by JAF or MSKEY or other tool which are too costly. keep the help of some mobile repair expert, he will do the job for you in a cheap and nominal price.

Hi,

There is a Software problem in your mobile you should renew your mobile software.
If your a Mobile technician then use the software box & as well as use the suitable cable of your mobile e.g JAF Software dongle box and cable. By using this you can renew your mobile software. If your Not a Mobile Technician the dont try this thing it is harmful for your mobile it may become dead.

If your not a mobile technician then please visit your nearest Nokia Service Center ( Nokia Care) they will do it in proper method.

How can i change my language on n97 from chinese to english?
1) Check your version on your phone by pressing *#0000#
You will see your current softwareversion (currently probably 10.something and that's why you are on this page). The model probably is N97 and the type RM-507.

It is also important you have already installed the PC suite.

2) download the new firmware via Navifirm

Run it (start-up takes a while, it retrieves data from the internet) and select the version that you want to download. Make sure that you know which firmware you want to download.
A list of all the product codes (and the ones which are already updated can be obtained here)

3) Store the files that you have downloaded in following folder:
C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507

where RM-507 is equal to the code that you retrieved in step 1

You now have possession of the part that you need to upload to your phone!

To be able to flash this on your phone you need toinstall and get J(ust) A(nother) F(lasher) working

Download JAF version 1.92.62 here, and in order to get it working download OMG JAF PKEY Emulator v5: here

version 1.92.62 does not know the N97, so 1.92.64 can be downloaded. You don't need the .exe file just the .ini files. So download JAF version 1.92.64 here and only put the .ini files in the directory where you installed version 1.92.62

When this is done, open OMG *** PKEY Emulator v5. After pressing go without changing any setting you should get JAF running.

You first get an error message that Box drivers are not installed. This is OK as you don't have a box. If you get a query regarding installing new drivers keep the ones you currently have (those you got when installing the OVI suite and they are perfect)

Press BB5, now we need to tell the programm where to get the new flash files.

First select: dead USB (even if your phone is still working)
Manual flash , factory set and normal mode.

If your phone is still working you can press .ini when it's connected. It will automatically know where your You can do this by connecting your phone and press: use ini, or when it's dead press the buttons MCU , PPM,CNT and APE one by one.

You should point them to your directory

MCU Flash file: C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507\RM-507_11.2.021_prd.core.C00
PPM Flash file: C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507\RM-507_11.2.021_prd.rofs2.V28 (SWAP the file from RM-505_11.0.021_prd.rofs2.V26 and rename it to RM-507_11.2.021_prd.rofs2.V28)
CNT Flash file: C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507\RM-507_11.2.021_C01_prd.rofs3.fpsx
APE Variant file: C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507\RM505_507_11.0.021_uda9_001.uda.fpsx



Also make sure you click the option: Change also product code and uncheck CRT 308.
Now make sure your phone is switched off and battery is in! Now take out the part that goes into your phone untill the program tells you to switch on your phone after you pressed FLASH.

Its best to get your phone flashed from a service centre. However, you can flash the phone yourself. Step by steps instructions are given below:

1. Download navifirm from here.
2. Select your phone model and download the latest firmware available.
3. Download JAF from here.
4. Flash your phone with JAF using dead usb option. (How to flash with JAF)

Firstly try to download this Nokia Phoenix Service Software 2010.08.004.41526 WinXP/XP-64/2003/Vista/Vista-64/Win7/Win7-64
Secondly
3110c files And install it in your PC..Disconnect all usb devices.
Now connect the phone with usb data cable without power on the phone to PC.Open Nokia phoenix...Click to "FILE" and select "open product" Choose 3110c rm237.Next Click to "Flashing" and then open "FPS-8C FLASH " after opening this just click to "Close" button and again click to "Flashing" select "FIRMWARE UPDATE" NOW you can select the firmware version as well as the product code at the top right which is showing a small browse window.Remember if the product code of the particular is not there just select the highest one.
After loading ..Click to "Dead phone" and again press to "REFURBISH"
Wait until a message shows that "PRESS POWER BUTTON" Press it and wait until the phone automatically switch on.
