We want to replace the cigarette lighter/phone charger socket on our 2004 Polo Twist. However, the plan on our fusecard does not match the layout of the fuses in our fusebox. The card says it's fuse no. 49 but which one is no. 49?! Where is no. 1 and do we count horizontally or vertically from there?

Review the section ZJ-Secc-8E-Instrument-Cluster-and-Gauges in the page 8E-5 you can find the graphics about this work.
Good luck!!!
SOURCE: 2000 Chrysler Town & Country Power outlet fuse (which one?)
The fuse and relay positions are cast into the under side of the 'power center' (fuse box) cover. The larger boxes are relays of various power (not related to your problem). Check the wire at the rear of the power outlet to see if it is connected. Sometimes a fuse will open due to an element crack, but not be blown. Try another when you find the correct one.

If you mean that the lighter will not pull out of the socket then it's nothing whatever to do with the fuse and everything to do with a bent bit of metal.
All you can do is to use a bit of intelligent brute force: don't just try and yank it out, try pushing it in and twisting slightly before pulling it out.
Ultimately, you may just have to yank it out and can expect to have to replace either the lighter or the lighter and socket afterwards.

you might find the fuse diagram on the inside of the fuse box cover under the hood.....hope this helps.....cheers
