When my laptop starts it gives me an error message saying my system fan has failed - error system fan (90B). The fan was really noisy before this message and I suspected the fan had packed in, but it seems as if it is still working as I get the option of letting it shut down in 15 secs or pressing enter to startop which I do and it does not cut out,or overheat, even after a few hours of using it. I have battery issues as I was previously getting a battery error upon startup and the battery only lasts 5 to 10 mins on its own. I am running windows 7 and would like to knowif there is any way I can try to see whether the fan is broken or not, a software program perhaps or help on going into the bios as I am a novice, I am keen to try but I just do not have the know how! Can anyone please help?
SOURCE: When I start my laptop I get the following message
The heat sink isn't properly connected to the CPU. If you're not comfortable opening up your computer then take it to your local repair shop. If you are, then open it up, remove the CPU and heatsink, remove the old thermal paste with goo gone, and apply a fresh layer of thermal paste, then reseat the CPU.
Try running this litte app, sometimes nasty programs just hide your files.
Unhide.
