Pump runs dry after several hours of running. when turned on water flows great and fills up tray and starts making ice., it then seems like system does not ask for any more water to make up for water turned to ice, water level in reservior is below pump intake. Anyone have troubleshooting help to determine what may be problem part?
ditto for mine after about 5 years. The water pump wrecked pretty quickly when this started. After replacing that, I noticed the low water level and noise from the dry pump. :-(

The leaking is caused by a defective=> WR57X10051 Dual Water Control Valve Replacing the valve will solve that problem. If you have questions please ask, Thanks Sea Breeze
HI this is just a test the icemaker runs when you first turn it on, its not suppose to fill up the tray, it will fill it when the icemaker reaches the correct temperature, if its not cold enough in the freezer it wont kick on, if its been sitting for several hours and still wont fill or make ice, you need a new icemaker. The new icemaker part # is WR30X10093
the condensate tube is run incorrectly on this model and goes uphill into the area above the refrigerator where there is a condensate pan. This will plug and back up and cause this problem. I have fixed ours several times but it always came back. The last time I bought a new clear plastic tube and reran the condensate out the back of the refrigerator and down through my floor. It's all downhill now and seems to have fixed the problem.
That is the solenoid valve that controls water going into your icemaker. If it's leaking on the icemaker side, then that amount of water isn't making its way into the tray and the ice is "thin".
You'll find two hoses connected - one from the house water supply (that one would be leaking all the time) and one to the icemaker that leaks only when the valve opens during a fill cycle. Check that one to see if it may just be loose, or perhaps a crack has developed in the tubing. Tricky part is it will only leak when the valve is operating for a few seconds during a fill cycle. If you have some electrical know-how, you can power the valve manually to see if you can spot the leak. If not, and you can't find anything loose or broken you may need a service tech.
Something caught inside the water valve (replace water valve ) such as dirt , sand . Or , the icemaker died in the fill position . Disconnect the icemaker plug inside the freezer , and see if water still runs from the icemaker fill tube . Also make sure the icemaker fill cup on the icemaker , is not clogged with ice .
manually drop hot water inside the freezer area, the freezer area have a little hole with a pipe laying to the tray down. as for as i concern the drainage pipe is closed due to ice. but if u drop hot water inside the freezer area it will unblock the pipe. and the friedge will work better then before..
It has a circulation pump that continuosly supplys water over a plate that forms a slab of ice on it. As the slab gets thicker the resistance values change in the ice and the machine opens a hot gas solenoid operated valve which floods the plate with heat from the condenser below. This makes the slab slide down the shoot onto a wire grid that is heated. The slab is cut into tiny little cubes and drops off into the ice bin. So yes the machine has a circulator pump. Ever so often you need to put it into the clean mode and add some nickleguard or ice machine cleaner to keep the pump and its components all happy happy.
Read the manual and see if the icemaker has a thermostat that prevents the admission of water into the tray if the freezer temp is too high. Also..make sure the ice level bar is down.
Have you checked to assure the long narrow hose that comes from the upper lback left corner is attached both on top and inside the water tray? This drove me nuts for 3 hours.
