Pioneer PD-Z84M Multi-Play CD player will does not recognise CDs are present

Hi My Pioneer PD-Z84M Multi-Play CD player has stopped recognising CDs are present in the changer cartridge. It was working fine yesterday, but now it loads Disc 1, fails to recognise a CD is there and moves on to Disc 2 where the same happens, on to Disc 3 etc. I assume it's a problem with the laser, but could it be something else? Interestingly, the tray for Disc 6 does not load at all now (although that could have been the case for a while as I tend not to fully load the cartidge anyway). Many thanks for your help. SOURCE: Teac PD-1200 Compact Multi Disc Player

Hi

I think that we can get at least one of them going again :)
I suggest

  1. take the lids off both of them.
  2. load up some Cd's and close the drawer and watch what happens.
  3. does the disc begin to spin, is not, do you hear any noise as it tries to read each disc.
  4. can you kick start the CD when it first loads(clockwise direction)
  5. if not of these things happen, can you see if the transport loads the cd up off the tray.
While you are in there, with the front drawer open you should be able to see the laser lens. Use a cotton bud moistened with windex(glass cleaner) gently clean the lens in a circular motion and then also polish it with a dry one to be sure you have left no smears on the lens. Then.... try the unit again and see if the CD reads.
If you don't have any luck this far, please post back to me and we can try some other things. All this and you give me a FixYa... YAY :)

SOURCE: bose 5 disc cd multi changer wont load any discs from the magazin

That is usually because of dirty or defetive lens, as teh player cannot read the initial track of the CDs.

Try first using a len cleaner , like the ones here.

If this does not work it will be necessary to take apart the unit and accees the lens to clean it, or replace the lens pickup. The repair must be done by a technician.

In this case call the number listed on the owner manual to get assistance

SOURCE: Problem with my Onkyo DX-C380

have u taken the top off and checked to see if the drive belts are in good condition and not loose? that can cause this loading error as well as a hard fault in a component.

Pioneer PD-M551 cd changer won't play cds 2 thru 6.

Thank you, Mark Z! My Pioneer PD-M551 would just stop reading the CD, usually near the end of the 4th or 5th disk, and then sometimes it wouldn't read any disks or maybe only the first one or two. I observed that the white ribbon cable was most contorted near near the end of the 4th through 6th disk (also discovered the disks are read proceeding from the center outward, unlike vinyl records). I unfolded the ribbon, massaged it and left it loose and unfolded and that fixed it (at least, temporarily). The PNP-1343 ribbon cable from Pioneer costs $11 but with shipping and handling it is over $30 so I haven't bought it yet.

My Pioneer PD-M403 will not play computer made CDs. Why won't they play?

Hello,

incompatibility is the cause of the problem. There is nothing wrong with both your player and the computer made CD's, they are not just clicking with each other.

The Pioneer PD-M403 player is also an old model, this could cause the problem.

There is not settings whatsoever that you can use ti solve this problem.

Take care.
