I just got my XBOX360 Elite back from repair by Microsoft (RRoD). I hooked it up to my Denon HDMI in and the TV (Samsung 50" Plasma 1080i) cannot see the signal. I switched my HDMI TV connection with my xbox360 input and the Denon reconized the TV, but again, not the Xbox360. I swapped HDMI cables and again the Denon reconizes the TV input but not the XBOX360. I connected my XBOX360 directly into my Samsund 50" Plasma and it reconizes the Xox 360 sound and video fine.
So, what is preventing my Xbox360 from being reconized by my Denon AVR-2307CI? My Denon is 13 months old.
The connection order can be a key issue as to whether or not the HDMI
signals will pass through the system. For best results the receiver
should be turned on first, then the source device(s) and then the
display. The reason for this has to do with getting the equipment to
handshake properly for the HDCP protocol.
If HDMI video will not pass through your receiver, you may with to just connect the xbox using the component cables. Since component will pass through 720p and your TV is 1080i you should expect the same qualtiy and a more crisp picture.

Solution: The problem was my XBOX360. It was my second one and it failed after less than five hours of use. On the plus side, Microsoft has been very supportive about the warranty after the failure has been confirmed.
