1. Working normally, plugged in to the car charger/traffic receiver. 2. Screen went black (presumably turning off) 3. Attempted charging in the car makes no difference. 4. Attempted charging on a computer via USB makes no difference. 5. Attempted charging with a 2 ampere capable wall USB charger makes no difference. 6. Pressing reset on the bottom for 10 or 15 seconds makes no difference. 7. Pressing and holding the power switch for up to 30 seconds makes no difference. 8. There appear not to be any LEDs except the green one on the car plug that does glow when it's plugged into the car. 9. No signs of life. 10. The device was purchased at Best Buy in the US in summer, 2010. 11. I assume it's just a latent defect that has presented itself conveniently (for Tomtom) a few months after the warranty expired.
SOURCE: GPS Won't Turn On
My 510 was doing the exact same thing.
I called customer support and they helped me get it working again.
866-486-6866 is the number but here is what they had me do.
I had to push down the reset button for 15 seconds (the reset is in a small cut out near where you plug in the charger on the bottom.you will need to use a pin and you will feel the pin push in the button if you have it in the right spot.)
Then release the reset and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds. the screen should come right back on.
If you need more help I suggest calling the 866# they are very helpful.
SOURCE: Tomtom one not poweringup
Lofty same just happened to me, following great deal of searching, my conclusion is that over voltage has fried regulator chip in tomtom, the reason you have green light is because at different part of power board. Approx repair cost if damage is not too bad (50% cannot be repaired) is £70.
TOMTOM will have a look for nothing, and give you a quote, if don;t want to proceed they will send it back for free also.
Good luck.

If the problem exists both when you use the vehicle power connector and the usb cable to your computer, then you have to assume that the problem is with the socket on the One. If it's still in warranty, I would send it back to Tom Tom for repair. Contact customer support for repair information.

SOURCE: My Tomtom XL won't turn on. No reset button apparent
The reset button is on the bottom of your device. On my older model XL it is just above the sd card slot. If you have the newer model XL 330 then you have to hold down the on/off switch for 20 seconds to do a reboot. If you have not used it in a while let it charge for 30 monutes before doing a reset.
Hope this helps
