Variable Speed Does Not Work - Model 395

The variable speed on my older model 395 only runs on high. I can not get it to run at any other speed.

I have never replaced brushes or anything else on this Dremel.

I'm assuming that this may be the switch itself. Is the switch serviceable?

Thank you,

It probably can be replaced. For info on this tool call 1-800-437-3635 (Dremel) and speak with customer service about a replacement part. Hope this helps

Dremel multipro variable speed only starts in 4 or 5 speed

with tool unplugged rotate tool end with your finger tips if it gives any resistance to this your bearings have forign material in them (happens if your doing grinding allot) if a liberal dose of light oil (sewing machine) does not improve this friction im sorry but you;ll have to replace tool to run slower speeds

I REPLACED THE BRUSHES IN MY MODEL 395 DREMEL AND IT WILL STILL NOT RUN . WHEN I FIRST START IT IT GOES LIKE IT WANTS TO RUN , BUT THEN JUST STOPS./

I beleive you will find a broken connection at the field coil. The connectors for the coil break as well as the coil wire close to the connectors. You can try to repair the coil yourself or replace it (# 2615302206 Field, 120v

My Dremel 395 type 4 does not run until I spin the chuck and then only runs at high speed.

Sounds like a switch or brushes. You can go to Dremel.com and they have a toll free number for their tech services and you can also download a breakdown for this tool.

I own a Dremel model 395 type 5 variable speed and it suddenly stopped working. I was wondering if it was common for the switches to go bad or if it's known for other parts to cause it not to turn on.

I would recommend going to Dremel.com and asking their tech section about this. I have one also and mine works fine other than a small amount of heat at the spindle area.
