I have an LG RC897T DVD/VCR recorder. Problem: When record from timer (set for something like every Sunday…) it only records part of the program. I have it set at LP which should give 4 hours on a disk, disk is empty and timer is set to record 2 hour program(disc is a DVD RW that is initialized at LP setting). Usually only records about 1:20 on a 2 hour setting but that is not consistent. It works okay about 1/2 the time. Any Ideas? I have not tried the VCR timer recordings yet. Please help
I have the same problem, sometimes. I recorded a movie from Turner Classic Movies and it was fine. I tried recording two baseball games from 8:30 to 12:30 on LP setting. It stopped recording the first time after 2 hours and 47 minutes. The second time, it stopped recording after 47 minutes. Then i tried to record other programs and they worked fine. Not sure what is going on. Called LG support and I was told that others have the same problem and they are working on firmware. Should be done by the year 2020 the way I feel.

My LG DVD recorder was unreliable when recording TV broadcasts to "standard" DVD disks. Frequently it would begin recording a show and then stop with a copyright error message during some commercial. I rarely got a complete show. Very frustrating!
Solution: Buy some DVD-RAM disks and this machine will become totally reliable. They are hard to find and a little more expensive than +RW or -RW. Because of the copyright programming on this machine only DVD-RAM disks will work in VR (Video Recorder) mode.
For VHS to DVD, put the tape to dub in the VHS slot and a blank DVD in the DVD tray. Make sure the DVD is compatible with the DVD recorder (see the recommended disc list) and is unfinalized if you are using a R/W disc. Close the tray. Set the unit to VCR mode with the DVD/VCR button. Advance the tape to the place that you want the recording to start. Then press the Dubbing button (either on the remote or the unit itself). Select the recording mode (SP, LP etc), highlight Dubbing then press Enter or Dubbing. Press Stop to interrupt the recording.
For DVD to VHS, put a blank tape in the VCR (make sure the protection tab has not been broken off) and the DVD to duplicate in the DVD tray and close the tray. Put the unit in DVD mode by pressing the DVD/VCR button. Find the point at which you want to start recording the DVD. Again press Dubbing and set up the recording mode and highlight Dubbing and press Enter or Dubbing.

it means that your tv has to be on channel 3 or 4 to use device. once your tv is on one of those channels, you should be able to program your dvd/vcr to record and check to see if there is a menu button on your controller. if it is a newer tv, try setting menu on component1, aux 1 or anything but tv..if there is a menu button on controller for dvd/vcr player select that once you see the home screen on tv...
If a cable box is not required for cable signal reception, connect the cable line to the ANT. IN connector on the recorder. If a cable box is required for cable signal reception, connect the cable line to the IN connector of the cable box. Connect a coaxial cable from the OUT connector of the cable box to the ANT. IN connector of the recorder. To view or record a CATV channel:
Tune the TV to the Recorder output channel (CH 3 or 4).
Set the Recorder channel selector to the cable output channel. (Example: CH3).
Select a channel using the cable converter.
With this connection, you cannot record one program while viewing another. If you are using a cable box to tune channels, it is not necessary to do Auto Channel Set.
I believe Viore is the same as Samsung. I only noticed this by accident as I bought a Viore TV and my friend bought a Samsung and I noticed both remotes were identical. I tried the Samsung codes and the remote worked. Good luck! Kevin

Same problem. Recorder may get only a few minutes of scheduled recording. Once or twice it has recorded correctly but you can't trust it!!
