If that is the Voice Mail Waiting indicator light at the top of the handset and on the base, you need to press Menu on the base. Use the up/down arrows to select VMWI Reset. Press Menu again to select this sub-menu. Use the arrows to highlight Yes and press Menu again. You may need to contact your telephone company to make sure that the voice mail service is still compatible with the Frequency-Shift Keying message notification. Some broadband (particularly DSL) systems can cause telephone interference. Check with the broadband provider if you need a DSL filter (or similar item) to keep the interference from corrupting the VMWI information.

you need the monitor base I think to receive the camera plus g series software that I have no idea how you will find this maybe ebay

On the base, press Menu/Select.
Select the Ans. Setup menu, and then the Record Greeting submenu.
Record Greeting, Start [select] appears.
Press Menu/Select to start the recording. Begin recording after the announcement. The message counter on the base LCD displays "30", and then begins to count down.
When you finish recording, press Menu/Selectagain or press . You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recorded greeting plays back for you.

I found a Uniden wdect 3355+1 (two handsets; one on answering machine and one stand alone). this is a wideband (64kbps-2mbps) phone/ans. mach. It's priced at $149.95 at Yahoo shoping. The wdect2355 that you have apparently is no longer offered.
