I have installed windows 7 in my laptop but the wifi is not working, its always showing not connected. The wifi button on the top of the keyboard making the blue light ON and OFF but wifi is not working.please tell me the solution as i have read on some forums that windows 7 doesn't support this wifi and i have to install new drivers but which driver?
Well you did all that wrong, sorry.
first go to HP and get all the drivers there first , matching your PC your OS and your wireless.
that is first ,then load W7 and install the HP drivers
or use the HP media kit and all that works at once.
here is what to do.
get ethernet working first. wired.
then when connected, (via above) download the HP driver for wifi.
or if lucky the W7 , OS , sees wifi missing and gRABS THEM FROM microsoft PnP severs, it most do.
there are only 2 ways to fix this.
1: use ethernet let PNP work
2: force feed he driver,s, (using sneaker net)
go any pc get the driver, at HP put in on usb stick
then load it to your dead pc,
end story, same for all PCs made, same story,
if silly toy notepads with no Ethernet jack (sad) only #2 works.
here is short page on no internet

Do you have a 2nd laptop,if yes pls do a speed test.
if this works then you need drivers reinstalled
bunk 100 % USDA bunk.

Hard to say when I dont know the exact model.
If it is an Atlantis(DV6000-6499) it is most likely the mainboard, and it might be coverd by an extended warranty.
If it is an Ares(DV6500-6999) you should try updatigng th BIOS first. If that doesnt help i would go for another WLAN card. It might also be a defective mainboard, but that doesnt happen as often on Ares models as Atlantis.

doesn't sounds like you can find drivers for windows 7, but you may want to install the XP drivers on your computer instead (which might work just the same)
