Have got a samsung L830 that wont charge or turn on. Plugged the charger in and it just flashes orange. Have lefted charging for approx 5 hours still nothing. Have checked the battery was in right. Only just got this as a gift.

My camera is just fine. I was just using it earlier today and then I went to charge it and it just flashes orange and then goes blank. The light is supposed to be red whenever the battery is about dead, which mine is....I have yet to figure out this problem. I'm not sure if it's the usb cable or the charger. My camera is just fine. I don't beleive it's the battery as I've bought 2 extra now for a total of three batteries and all have the same problem- light blinks orange when it should be charging and batteries don't charge! It is possibly the battery itself. i have a two batteries for this camera one of them has this problem orange flashing light and doesn't charge and the other works fine. You might need to get a new battery. Good luck

If the USB port puts out enough current then yes, you may charge the L830 with a USB cable. Be aware that not all computer USB ports put out enough current, especially if you go through a hub.
The problem appears to be in the rechargeable battery itself, I would replace the battery but not until the old one is checked first at the camera store.
Not sure how I eventually got it to work but the camera charged up ok after connecting it to my pc via the usb cable and then deleting some empty folders and a few remaining photos............
What is the orange charging light doing? If it is just flashing on, or only staying on or a minuet, that means you need a new battery. The orange light foes on when the battery has been charged to its maximum capacity. After each charge, the capacity is decreased. So if the orange light is on for only a short time, get a new battery.
