My hp photosmart 1315 leaks black ink from the bottom of the printer, yet I don't see any residue coming from either of the ink cartridges, what can be the problem? I have the same problem on a HP photosmart P1000 printer its over 5 years old and prints great I have over 6 color and 4 blk cartridges that are new and do not want to trash this printer. What should i do
SOURCE: Black ink leaking from bottom of printer!
There is a small hopper inside of the printer, called the cartridge holder, this is where the excess ink is wiped off of the cartridges, and is just left there. it is usually on the side where the cartridges stay when they are idle. The easiest thing to do, is take the cover of the printer off, and blot the ink out of the hopper, do not use any detergents, or liquid cleaners, as this will ruin the cleaner head for the cartridges.

Follow HP's instruction listed at the link below.

It would appear your printer (or HP) believes the time for the use of your ink cartridge has expired and therefore will not accept the cartridge. Need to isolate the battery in the printer for an hour or so. Battery is inside the machine right hand front ie put a thin credit card between it an one of the terminals as it is hard to replace if you remove it.

The small black ink cartridge is the photo black cartridge. If you're not printing any photos that's why it is still full.
