SOURCE: Samsung YP-U3 MP3 Player Problem connection

Found the solution on another site (http://www.everythingusb.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=11238). To quote user AFHavemann :

"* Plug in the player so the USB bus can see it.

* Once it’s recognized (i.e., the device screen reads "Charging" and "USB Disconnected"), go to the Control Panel and click "System"

* Choose "Hardware" then "Device Manager" tab.

* Look for the name of your device under “Portable Devices” in the list

* If the name of your player is under “MTP Device” then the correct drivers are probably loaded

* Right-click on the name of your device and click "Properties"

* Click “Update Driver”"

Then follow the prompts from there. The computer searches for the driver software, etc., and reinstalls/resets information related to the device, which fixed things such that the computer will now recognize the device. I'm not sure what causes the problem, but this solution seems to reset whatever's gone wrong.

SOURCE: device drivers for samsung yp-t9jab/xac mp3 player

Since they didn't include a specific driver, then XP is supposed to download the driver automatically. Restart your computer and try replugging the player into the computer again. Use the instructions on p. 16 of the Samsung manual for installing the software, except skip the part where it says "from CD" - just use the software you grabbed from their site. If that fails, go to the Microsoft website, and get their mtp protocol software (only if you are running Windows Media Player 11). I would guarantee you that this problem is Microsoft's fault, and not Samsung's.

I have a Samsung YP-U6 MP3 player which worked very well for the past 4 years. Suddenly the connection between the PC and the MP3 player didn't work any more. When I plug in the MP3 player in the USB port,...

Sandro, from what you describe, thanks for the complete story, I'm afraid the USB connector in the MP3 player is defect. Or the connection inside the player. If you tried another MP3 cable and that did not work, it must be in the player.
Be aware an USB cable has different wires for charging and for the digital connection. So a cable could be used foe charging, and still be defect for digital throughput.
Perhaps you could try to clean out the USB connector on the player, but be careful not to bend or break any pin in the connector. Is a tooth pick and if you have an air blower, blow in the connector, if you see anything like a bit of dust or a scrap of paper.
Then the opening of the player.
As a repair engineer, I would not open it, unless I had a repair manual. I never had a player like this on my bench, but I'm convinced it can be opened. But because these little devices are often glued, it could be possible you can open it, but you won't be able to put it together.

Sometimes I use the site ifixit.com but they did not (yet) open a MP3 player, so that can't help you. I tried to find a repair manual, but that failed too.
I hope you can fix it by cleaning the connector, because if not I think you have to start saving money for a new player.

Sorry

I need a charger for my samsung yp-k3 2gb mp3

The MP3 player is charged by connecting the supplied USB cable to the MP3 player and then plugging the other end of the USB cable into the USB port of a working computer.
This cable is also used to copy music files, video and photos to the MP3 player from the computer.

My Samsung YP-Z5 player wont respond to charging. Tried plugging into several USB ports on different computers but wont charge. Its constantly displaying .... Low Battery & USB Disabled. I was...

Yes, they only last two to three years.

A search of eBay, a place i look to check availability gives a number available.
Search "Samsung YP-Z5 battery"

If you are able to open up the case You could cut off the existing battery leads close to the battery and join the two wires. Soldering is preferred if you have an insulated tip soldering iron.
Otherwise twisting the wires together is probably good enough.
Tape the joins to strengthen and insulate them.

Cannot chage YP-K3 player

The usb message has nothing to do with the ability of the unit to charge. It just means that the port on your computer is recognised as a USB 1.1 port.

It is more likely that the battery no longer holds a charge. The battery can be replaced but it is difficult to open up the unit without damaging the casing. There are instructions on opening up the unit on youtube. Other than buying a faulty unit with a working battery I don't know how to get hold of the batteries. Be careful when replacing the battery. If it is connected the wrong way you will fry your unit.
