This is a dealer lock, removed by unplugging it, plug it back in whist holding down the play, stop and open/close button on the front of the machine.

i need help hooking up my dvd recorder to my cable box and my tv what do i need to do to recored tv programs....

I believe a small bar is dislogded I took mine apart and turned it upside down and bar fell out don't where it came from so left out now working again. Best of Luck Mike

If it's the Espejo 311i model (mine was £30 from Morgan) I don't think you'll have any joy trying to select channels direct from the unit. Mine works fine with a Freeview box but channel selection is strictly on the latter, then the SCART goes into the recorder's No. 2 socket (No. 1 goes on to the TV). You can record whatever the box is receiving by selecting 'EXT2' as the source. Even if you never record analogue it's a good idea to plug an aerial feed into the Mico so it can set its clock. Note PDC doesn't work (for me anyway) when recording via the SCART. If someone has set it up strangely you can reset from scratch by unplugging, holding the front panel On switch in, then reconnecting to the mains while keeping the button pressed until the first setup screen appears on your TV. It will auto-tune to any analogue signals it finds on the aerial input. I could probably scan at least some of the manual if you are really stuck.
