Hello,<br /><br />A simple but amazing option that was added to Windows 7 is
god mode. God mode gives the user a central point to to manage all of
the computers settings. The following steps will detail how you can create a God mode desktop option. <br /><br />1) Create a new folder on your desktop and rename the folder to" God Mode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"<br /><br />You can do this by right clicking on the desktop, then select New , then select Folder. <br /><br />Once the folder is created, right click on it and select rename. <br /><br />2)
The folder will be created with a default control panel icon. If you
double click on the icon, you will notice all of the settings you can
view and change. This gives a central point for computer management. <br /><br />It
has been reported that this icon may crash computers, however, I have
used it since Windows 7 was released and with no problems. <br /><br />I hope this article was informative. <br /><br />Regards,<br />G33k
To re-create the Show Desktop icon on the Quick Launch toolbar, follow these steps....
1. Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to create a file with the following lines: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop 2. Save the new file as a file named Show Desktop.scf in the WindowsSystem or WinntSystem32 folder. Note that Notepad may automatically append a .txt extension to the file name. Remove this extension if Notepad adds it. These steps do not work if the file is named Show Desktop.scf.txt. 3. Quit Notepad. 4. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, right-click the Show Desktop .scf file, and then click Create Shortcut. 5. Copy the new shortcut to the appropriate folder. In Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98, copy the shortcut to this folder: WindowsApplication DataMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch In Microsoft Windows NT or Microsoft Windows 2000, copy the shortcut to this folder: WinNTSystem32 In Microsoft Windows XP, copy the shortcut to the following folder: WINDOWSSystem32ConfigSystemprofileApplication DataMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch 6. Rename the shortcut to Desktop. The Show Desktop icon automatically appears on the Quick Launch toolbar. --------------------------- Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/190355/EN-US/
Suppose you want to create a new folder inside the MyDocuments folder or just on the desktop.
For example on the desktop. Point anywhere where there is no icon. Click the right mouse button. Look for the submenu New. Unfold that menu and find Folder. Click the Folder submenu. A new folder icon appears. Below the new icon, a small text area opens that says New Folder. Erase the New Folder name and type in the name you want. If you do not give a name, the folder will be called New Folder, New Folder(1), etc. depending on the number of folders that were created and not named.
I assume you have Windows XP. Right click on the desktop and Arrange Icons By and then click on Show Desktop Items. You should see the icons on your desktop and probably all the new folders you created... :-)
remove all programs that start at boot up by running msconfig and clearing all checked boxes for the programs that load at boot up. Also, remove all but the system icons from the desktop by creating a folder in "My Documents" called "Desktop". Cut and the paste all but the system icons into this folder, then right click on the folder and create a shortcut to this folder on the desktop. re-boot and see how it goes.
