SOURCE: how to change a dryer belt

Unplug unit . Check to be sure you have 240 Volts at wall outlet.

Open the door and look along the front upper edge of the dryer along the front edge. There will be 4 screws going into the top. Remove them and lift the top.

Near the floor at the front of the dryer about 1 inch in and 4 inches off the floor there will be a 5/16" hex head screw on each side that is black like the toekick. Loosen each about 3 turns but do not remove them. Leaning against the front of the dryer, Look down inside the open top dryer from above on each left and right edge there will be a 5/16" hex head screw holding the front assembly to the case of the dryer. Remove 1 on each side.

The dryer front can now be pulled toward toy about 3 inches at the top and then lifted off the lower screws and swung away to the right from the case. Be careful not to strain any wires connected between the case and the front. Place the belt around the drum with the ribs of the belt facing the drum and hang the remainder of the belt into the lower part of the dryer.

Reverse the process of the above three paragraphs to reassemble what you have done.

Pull the dryer out enough to get behind it. there is a lower black panel to be removed by taking out all the 5/16" screws around the edge. Swing the panel aside and look into it. You will see the motor to the right and the loose part of the belt hanging somewhere in the middle.

Place the belt around the motor and idler pulley so that the ribbed side of the belt goes in the grooves on the motor pulley and the flat side runs around the idler pulley, according to the GE chart on this image.

http://www.applianceaid.com/images/belt-config.JPG

Turn the drum by hand a few times so that the belt aligns with the pulleys and is not twisted at any point.. Reinstall the rear panel again and you are finished.

Good Luck

SOURCE: I have a Hotpoint Dryer and the belt snapped, we

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.

If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt, felt seal, and drum.
Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley.
The route of the belt will go around the motor pulley first, then it will go around the idler arm bracket with pulley, then around the drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Putting the belt back on this dryer

Hello Friend, Replacing a dryer belt is very simple. Just remove front of dryer cabinet. unplug wires from dryer door switch. Just slide a new belt over the drum with the belt grooves facing to the inside. Underneath drum you will see a tention wheel next to motor. Install belt around tention wheel and around motor shaft pully. Re-install front dryer cabinet. Make sure to plug in the wires to the door switch and make sure that the drum is re-inserted back over the felt glide on inner cabinet front. Happy to help, Tim.

Hi there I am trying to replace a belt on my old dryer how hard is it

If you have a NVL333EY which you posted under, I'd rate the repair a 4 on a scale of 1 - 10 in difficulty. That Hotpoint model is actually manufactured by Frigidaire / Electrolux and sold through GE as a Hotpoint. (Hey, it's a global economy, right?)
Disconnect power to the dryer. Use a putty knife to push in the seem of the front panel with the dryer top to release the dryer top, allowing it to swing back. You may be able to use a phillips to remove the screws holding the front panel, but a #2 square drive works much better. Slip new
134503600 belt around drum from front. Put front panel back on. Remove 4 screws (again the #2 square drive works best) holding the back access panel at lower left back side to allow you to finish belt installation. Belt grooves touch the drum. The worst part is keeping the spring from falling off when you put the belt tensioning wheel on. After you have the belt installed, give the drum a turn by hand to make sure everything is OK before you close up the top and reconnect power.

Need to know what size belt goes on whirlpool hotpoint dryer model#DLB155OBDLAD

Your model number is actually "DLB1550BDLAD". The character after the second 5 is a zero, not the letter O. I'm only pointing this out to you because it is often hard to read these characters and it will avoid confusion for you in the future. The part number you need for a belt replacement is "WE12X82". You can find it at searspartsdirect.com under the "Blower and Drive Assembly" heading. It is listed as item number 213. The illustrations aren't the greatest, but they may help you as well. If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number provided and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. They should carry a stock of different dryer belts. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you have further questions.
