I also have same problem. The evaporator fan inside the won't run when I close the door. The light doesn't work neither. The compressor seem to be working, I get the cold air at the evaporator coil. If you figure out what's wrong, please post it. thanks

If this is a Bev-Air, don't think the door switch will control the fan. At the evap, there is a temp sensor called a fan delay. When unit goes into defrost mode, this warms up. Some also serve a dual purpose. It will terminate the defrost cycle at a certain temp., say 51 degrees or so, at the evap. Anyway, when unit comes out of defrost, it keeps the fan off so it allows the evap to cool quicker and to prevent circulating warm air. This could be your problem. Not a hard fix but they can be a pain sometimes. Outside chance that the unit is low on refrigerant (freon). This will not let the evap get cold enough to trip the sensor back into position to turn the fan on. Good Luck. Restaurant Parts and More carry alot of Bev-Air stuff. 1-888-814-1110. Ask for Rick

True 49f fans stopped running. Compressor still runs. Fixes? Troubleshooting steps?

I am assuming you are relating to the evaporator fan(s) not running. If this is the case, some units have a 'Klixon" type thermostat in the evaporator so when the evaporator coil temp reaches a predetermined temperature, the fans come on. You may have a bad "Fan Delay" (Klixon) or the coil is not reaching the proper temp to activate it to turn on the fans. I would check the wiring diagram on the unit for this part to see if this unit has it in the system.

Compressor runs bypassed thermostat with wire that turns on and off compressor, but freezer cabinet is not cold 65 degrees evaporator fan does not turn on,condensor fan on,sttill no cold

If you have just turned it on it takes awhile for the fans to come on. The evaporator coil has to get cold about (10 to 20 degrees) and make a klixion fan switch to turn the fans ON.... Is the evaporator coils getting a frost pattern on them??? If not then the system may be low of Freon.. If the coil is completely froze up and you are getting frost back to the compressor..... then you have a bad fan switch or a door switch.... If you have a wiring diagram you can trace out the wiring.... It is usually down by the compressor or control panel... hope this helps.

Amana side by side model ssd22nl. compressor runs and runs, but the evaporator fan does not come on. what would cause this problem?

Hi, If the evaporator fan in the freezer is not running, more then likely the motor has failed. The compressor will run and run because the thermostat control is never satisfied. If you have a volt meter you can check to see it there is power to the motor, 120 volts, but I would say that if it does not run, it is faulty and you must remove and replace it. If you do this on your own, take out the old motor and write down all of the information you can from the unit also. Model, serial, and name of unit. This will help if the appliance parts house needs to cross it over to a different motor. Keep me posted.
Sincerely,

Will not freeze

Possible bad thermostat. You can disconnect the thermostat, take a jumper wire and plug in where the thermostat goes. This will tell the unit that the unit is turned on. If the freezer freezes, then it is the thermostat and it needs to be replaced. They can be purchased from an appliance supply house. Do not run the unit with the jumper wire or the compressor will run and not shut off.

Freezer comes on fan starts after a few seconds goes off freezer unit freezes solid fan doesnt come on again fan is ok

Good day,
When the thermostat is turned on, the fan and compressor should come on and start at the same time. If the compressor continues to run and the fan doesn't, then the fan motor or the wiring to it are suspect.

Quote (The fan motor is o.k ). I doen't know how you tested it, but it still remains suspect, since the thermostat sends power to both of them at the same time.

Not sure of the model or make, but the freezer and refridgerator work and then dont work, i can freeze water but a day or two later it's thawed?

First, make sure the refrigerant coils underneath the unit are not dirty. If so, clean them off.

Second, make sure the compressor (underneath the refrigerator) is running.

Third, make sure the compressor fan (underneath the refrigerator close to the compressor) is turning. This fan should always be turning when the compressor is running. It removes heat from the refrigerant coils and transfers it to the outside.

Fourth, make certain the evaporator fan (in the freezer, likely behind an access panel) is turning.

All of these conditions must be present for proper cooling.

Fans inside freezer will not turn - no cooling - compressor fan underneath is turning

The fans are controlled with a clixon that has a cut in at 5 degrees, and cut out at 20 degrees. If the unit is running and the fans are not comng on then I would have to say you are out of freon. But your condensor fan could be running and the compressor NOT be running which could be a problem with your compressor. Find out if your compressor is running by taking an amp draw. If compressor IS running then you are low on freon. If the compressor is running and your evaporator coil is cold and your fans AREN'T coming on then your clixon is bad.

Have an RZA30 freezer thats not freezing

was the compressor running? if the unit fails to make temp at a given setting and the compressor is running then turning down the cold control will not make it colder. the thermostat is a switch that turns the compressor and fans (if you have fans) on and off. the different settings only change at what temp the compressor etc. turns off. make sense? so listen for that compressor if it is running and the unit is war you have refrigeration system trouble: restriction, low charge, leak, etc...
cant tell you which without more info.
