Hi.

My name is Rick and I am the owner and technician of Discount Camera Repair. The problem you are experiencing is most likely caused by a faulty flex cable that connects the LCD to the camera and can be repaired fairly inexpensively but will require disassembly by a qualified technician. If I can be of any help please call or email me. I'll be happy to repair the camera for you.

Testimonial: "Thanks very much mate. Just out of interest how much would you charge to repair it?"

Hello and thanks for the reply. How much would it cost to repair? Cheers, vinnie

Clean the heads(use the specified cleaning tape sparingly).
Change tape. Using Panasonic video tape? It sounds like no. You might get by with Sony... Try Panasonic.
The tapes are different thickness, durability and therefore suitability for cameras. Try to get ME -type tape( metal evaporated) instead of MP( metal particle) as the particles tend to flake off more readily. The blue often means no signal(video) was recorded in that space(on the tape). Let me know it it helps.

The NV-GS27 came out in Spring 2006, and the NV-GS60 came out in Spring 2007.

The latest entry level MiniDV Camcorder from Panasonic is the PV-GS90 - it may not yet be available in all areas.

The NV-GS60 is not the latest model.

SOURCE: driver required for model nv-gs60

I can't seem to find drivers, but something useful which someone told, that you'll need special software. "Windows XP comes with the MovieMaker for free. It is slow but you can use it to begin. It is under the Start -> All Programs -> Windows Movie Maker.
Got it? great...
First, did your camcorder come with a installation CD? Normally no drivers are needed but for some special camcorders it may happen, in such case you must have received the CD with the camcorder or go to panasonic's website and look for your camcorder model and get the drivers.
All you have to do is plug the camcorder to your PC's firewire with your cable. Turn it on.
If a special driver is needed then a window will pop up asking for the drivers, here's where you'll need the CD or downloaded drivers.
If no drivers are needed, then another pop up window may open asking you what program do you want to use... select movie maker...
If no window pops up... Just open movie maker as indicated above.
In the left you have the tasks... select 'capture video from device'.....
The you just have to playback the video in your camcorder and use the controls that will appear to start/stop recording in your PC.
Videos are heavy, you'll need LOTs of space in your hard drive....
The rest.. is intuitive... after you have the videos in your PC you can do edition with this program...
But as I said, it is too slow... I'd recommend you to get Sony Vegas... you can download a trial version and see..."

How to reset the camcorder if the reset button will not reset it.

...and try this first...:
You need to know in which position was camera turned of.
So try turning it on in RECORD OR PLAY position.
It will work then...
