Your monitor may not be configured to the correct resolution for the second monitor. If you right click on an empty space on the desktop and then select properties, the display properties will appear. Click on the last tab on the top right. It should be settings or something like that. You should see two boxes with the numbers 1 and 2 in them. Next click on box number 2 and try using the slider below and changing it to different resolutions for your monitor.

The driver files allow for windoze to set the monitor up as a plug-n-play device. However, you do not need drivers to set this up manually. If you will right-click the desktop and open the display properties, click the display adaptor tab, and uncheck the box that indicates to hide incompatible settings (I don't have windoze myself, but it's worded something like that) save that change and click on the monitor tab, then find a compatible setting for your monitor as indicated in the instruction manual, you can set it up to work as well as if it had the drivers.

Is the power light staying on or does that go out as well?
If the power light stays on and if you darken the room, can you see a faint image still on the screen by shining a flashlight at it (close). If there is a faint image it is either the inverter or the backlight tube.

railbird56, Common problem for ALL BRANDS of "cold-cahtode-fluorescent-lamp" back-lit lcd monitors! Here are your options!!! Cheapest to most costly!! 1. Warranty repair. 2 DIY repair???? 3. Local or distant repair. 4. possible old + cash swapout with Hannspree for refurbished same model?? 5. Trade-in for new wide screen. My best guess on your monitor (no history) is that the unit's SMPS is in partial or full shutdown mode during it's black screen moments. How much do you know about "electronic ballasts" "switch-mode-power-supplys" and how to repair them?? 12fixlouie
