I have a hotpoint aquarius wd420 that has no lights - appears dead. The problem started as not pumping the water out, so to fix i cleaned out the filter, then opened up the pump - there was just some hair wrapped around it so removed and put it back. I noticed a pair of terminals to the pump with no wires connected (can't be sure if it was like this before I took it out) so I found what appeared to be the power supply - a pair of red wires attached to a plastic housing that fit on the pump, and fitted them. i thought that would be what the problem was, so replaced the hatch at the back and the top which I had taken off unnecessarily. When i plugged the machine back in there are now no lights and nothing happens. I have tested the fuse which is fine and have held down the cancel button at least 3 seconds but still nothing...

The water level vacuum switch are not working , check hose might lose.
SOURCE: does machine have a filter
The filter is to be found at the rear of the washer.
Remove lower rear panel of washer, remove large black hose fastened to bottom of tub.
Watch out for water running out.
Remove plastic`filter inside hose and clean.
Refit filter and hose.
Dirty washing can somtimes be attributed to washing at too low a temperature, so make sure you have selected right temp for washing.
Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.Thanks.

You have a fault on the machine which is a dead short or an earth leakage.
Neither can be sorted out without a set of testers and some knowledge
Unless you can get hold of a resistance checker and know how to use it call a in a repair person
SOURCE: no heat
Check on the back of the drum for a thermal fuse or relay. Common fault on tubledryers is no power to heating coils becuse of blown fuse or most likely the relay to heating coils is dirty. have to be cleaned about every 2/3 years depending on use.
