Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem

a computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

make sure the CPU central processing unit has thermal paste and dust free and is securely seated

make sure your computer ram modules are securely seated with no dust in sockets also Cmos battery has charge with no dust in the socket some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
hope this helps you

How do i get into setup?

Watch the screen when you press the power button for which key to press to get into System Setup or Bios. Press Del repeatedly once you hit the Power Button.

Sound like you've got a memory issue.
Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

How do i open bios in american megatrends

As the computer is booting watch the screen it'll say something akin to
press F10 or DEL to enter setup F2 to enter the boot menu.

It will be the F10, Del and sometimes F12 that you're after.

Be careful to read the instructions for the bios, make absolutely sure you
are confident and correct in changing the settings.

If you're not sure quite what you've done, exit without saving changes.
Then try again.

Weird error message on boot. BIOS error?

This is a strange one. Does the BIOS on your motherboard detect your hard drives at all? I'd try the lowest level first. If so, then try to boot from your XP CD ROM (hopefully this should work). Try to go into recovery console to see if your hard drive can even be mounted by the system. I'd check there.

If you still have issues, try to reflash your mobo BIOS to the most current one. Could be a flaky BIOS issue.
