Dometer 3105457. how big of generator for the air

If it is a normal AC for RV then I would suggest something over 4000 watts, the AC's have a very high start amps.

You would really need to know how many amps the unit draws or is rated to draw when looking for a generator. Too small of a generator and it won't work, plus you could damage the generator and the AC unit. I would call an RV store and ask them as that is something simple for them to answer.

I HAVE DOMETIC DUO-THERM PENGUIN ROOF AIR CONDITIONING ON RV. THE UNIT WILL RUN WHEN PLUGGED INTO ELECTRICITY BUT WHEN GENERATOR POWERED THE AC UNIT KILLS THE GENERATOR ENGINE. WHAT COULD IT BE?

What size & type generator? On start up the AC unit can draw as much as 17-18 amps in some cases, and if your generator is not designed for a quick draw like that it will die.

I'm purchasing a generator to power the Dometic Duo Therm Brisk Air A/C unit in my camper. How many watts does it draw?

You will need at least a 5000 watt generator to run that and a few lights etc... for the camper.

I have a 2005 Pilgram 27 foot 5th wheel. My Duo Therm AC unit makes a ticking sound from the ac unit itself when it's not running. Shutting off the Duo Therm analog thermostat does not stop the ticking...

It's obviously on the 12voltDC circuit of the AC unit. Sounds like thermostat, or a relay in control box is faulty or bad connection. If you remove cover on ceiling assy., you should be able to hear it in the control box. There should be a model number on the ceiling assy., get back to me with that number and I can better pinpoint which relay. Also, try moving all thermostat buttons and temperature controls back and forth quickly to see if it may clean off a dirty circuit in thermostat as well. Make sure your AC hydro breaker is off when working with ceiling assy. just to be safe.

Depends on wattage demand of ac unit. VXA=W 110x20amps=2,0200 Watts. A 2,00 watt generator is too small. Best go for a 3,kw genset. A 5 kw will leave you room to run appliances and the ac simultaneously., otherwise you will need to watch your margin usage. I think 4.5 kw gensets are also available. Happy trails.

Need electral requirements to size a generator for Duo-Therm A/C unit model 57915.531

A Duo-Therm 13.5BTU Brisk Air unit will pull 14 - 16 amps on average in High/Cool mode. Depending on the ambient temperature. Since the unit is 120VAC, then we know that the unit is going to need at least 1920Watts to run. There are other things in the unit that will affect the generator as well. TV's, Microwave and Converter all pull amperage on the generator. It is safe to say that if you are using a 4000Watt Generator, then you will be fine. If it is just for the AC and nothing else, then a 2500Watt generator is more than sufficient.

Thanks,

Jeff

Penguin Duo therm AC bogs

Try replacing the wall thermostat with an electronic unit. It sounds like it is short cycling. If there is not at least 5 min delay before trying to restart the compressor this is what happens. Most electronic thermostats have a delay feature built in to solve this problem.
