I would check and see if this is not ticked on "MUTE" in your AUDIO PROPERTIES.
Hope this helps.

Let's try the obvious - then move on to a more in-depth fix for this.
Assuming you're running Windows ..
Lower right corner of the screen (in the task bar) is a speaker icon. If there's a red circle lined through, it means the audio is muted or turned off. Simply click on the icon, and the pop-up will show the same circle. Click on that, and it ought to work. Again, this is the obvious, and most common I've found to occur.

Sound problem

First of all try to disable the onboard sound card.
Enter the bios by pressing "del" or F2 during the boot process, navigate to find sound options and disable the onboard audio. Boot the pc normally, go to the device manager and uninstall any audio drivers. Shut down the pc, unplug the power cord and plug-in your new pci audio card. Start the pc and install the drivers for your new audio card.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

I have a HP PC. the compouter does not boot. A vendor tested it and said the sound card is gone bad. The sound card is on the motherboard. wat to do?

Unless you love this computer you have to take this mother board to the manufactuer for componant repair.
Could be anything. Diode issue or transister unless you have the schematics for this item you can fix it your self and test, however if you don't love this mother board as you do... might just have to replace the mother board

I can't see anything in the screen

You need to change your bios settings for the PCI graphics card to be the default monitor settings. See if you can boot into your bios by pressing F1 or F2 or the delete key. Once you are in look for the PCI configuration. I hope this helps.
