SOURCE: no heat

hi there
your problem is either the t-stats have blown which is very common or your heater is blown..

im guessin your t-stats beacuse they are the most common on hotpoint dryers to blow. There always blowing

They located at the back of the dryer behind the protuding panel so there for you dont need to open it all up just that panel.

To check if their blown check for continuity,, no continuity no good merry christmas cheers

SOURCE: HOW TO FIX A NO HEAT ON A GE ELECTRIC DRYER OVER 10 YEAR OLD

Either one of 2 ways to get to the thermostat on a GE dryer.....

depending on your model, you will have an access point on the back of the dryer to get to the heating element which has attached to it, the thermostat.

If there isn't an access point on the rear of the unit, open the front door of the dryer and remove the 2 screws in the top of the door opening. Using a small prybar, slightly apply pressure prying up the lid. On the inside of the face of the dryer in the corners will be 2 more screws, remove those and pull the face of the dryer outwards to you to about a 45 degree angle. From there, you will be able to lift off the face. Be cautious to unplug the wires for the door switch before pulling the face all the way out. There isn't much to a 10 yr old dryer, just take your time, study the parts and put it back just as you took it apart. For the replacement thermostat or heating element look at

Good luck and let me know if there is any more trouble I can help with.

SOURCE: GE Profile Harmony DPGT750EC Electric Dryer not heating up

Check the air flow from the vent-if there is no air or very weak air flow, it is the blower motor. It is not getting up to speed or not spinning at all. Try this:
Press "Home"
Press "Help"
Simultaneously press and hold down BOTH
"My Cycles" and "Back"
After a few seconds the dryer will enter service mode and report any problems.

My condo has a Hotpoint dryer. It is about 3 years old and last fall it no longer dried. I took the dryer hose off from the wall and the dryer works fine, heats the condo. The dryer vent goes into the...

Hi.

With most Hotpoint/GE dryers the blower motor is not spin by a belt. The problem is unlikely the blower motor. The problem is lint in the air ducts and in the blower housing. The lint results in overheating and the high limit switch cuts off the power to the heater (burner or element depending on the model).
As a result the dryer does not heat up.

Access the heating group and remove lint from the air ducts. Also clean the lint filter.

My general electric dryer DDE5300 is no longer warm so clothes don't dry, though it runs. How can I tell if its the heating element or the thermostat?

You Will have to use an ohm meter and the tub has to be taken out. You can on a GE open the door and push in on the door switch and starte it with the door open and look straight in and see the heater come on but if either the heat element of thermostat is out the element wont come on. If you live in ahouse with fuses instead of circuit breakes or a fuse box between the dryer and main circut box check the fuses an electric dryer will run on one fuse but not heat if this is the case switch the fuses and see if it runs if not one fuse is bad.

My hotpoint ctd 40 wont heat up

Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.
A ohm meter test for these parts is here.

Not heating up

This looks like it is an older model. The normal place I check for parts doesn't stock the heating element. I found an alternative place but the part is $90.

The element is in the large round area that surrounds the drum assembly. Here's a diagram. The heating element is part number 512. The line doesn't reach all the way there but I think the element is the two dark rings inside the housing. Here the page with the parts listing. You'll note that the model number is the same but the brand is GE. GE makes hotpoint.
