Hello, Peggy.

I'm working on your solution, but need more info:

1. What MAC operating system are you using ?
2. Is this an intermittent problem or consistent one ?
3. Does the problem occur when sent to all recipients or a specific one ?
4. Are you going through AOL ?
5. What make and model of your router ?
6. When did the problem begin ?
7. Experiencing problems with Internet access ?

Sorry to ask all these questions, but I'm trying to narrow your problem.

Thanks ... NinaE

Nina, it is a consistent problem with all contacts. I receive messages, but cannot send. Started about two weeks after I started using it. What is MAC? Not on AOL, I'm on Sprint. Internet access is good otherwise. Overdrive Pro 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Sierra Wireless.

    Hello again, Peggy.

iChat was not designed for the iPad. There is an AIM App (AOL) for text messages, which is why I asked about AOL. If you are communicating with another iPad or iPhone user, I'd recommend Facetime. Or, Skype. I'm wondering if there is a specific reason you are attempting to use iChat. Using iPad or iPad2 ?

    Hope this helps.

When I try to get onto the internet, is says "there was problem communicating with Google Servers? What does that mean?

it means that when you go google , the internet cannot connect with the servers google use ( a server is a piece of electrical equipment similar to a post box where you put a letter addressed to google in ( using the internet addressed to google ) and the post man then collects that letter and places it in the postbox for google ( server)
If that post box is too full the postman cannot deliver your letter and that is a problem of communication
The action is that the post office then advises google to come and empty the mail box and then your letter is delivered
however if a lot of people are trying send letters at the same time or there is a electronic fault in the servers then you get that message so that you can use another search engine ( firefox etc ) until the problem is cleared

Won't send messages

Are you attached to Wifi? If you are, you can ONLY send messages to other Apple equipment (blue messages) or you can send messages to other WhatsApp users using this app.

You cannot send messages to a mobile user if you are not connected via the 3G or 4G networks.

When sending photos to a PC they are being received in one continuous reel and not individual pictures with file name

Have you looked into using an app called 'Push Bullet'?

It allows you to send files, links, documents, etc from one device to other; I often use it to send images, and such from my phone directly to my computer, or my wifes phone for that matter. The computer or device you want to send to will need to have the program installed as well but it works very well.

Cannot send iChat messages

Peggy,

There are a few things we can try:

First, make sure iMessage is enabled by going to Settings, then Messages. The toggle should be set to "On". If it is "Off", when you switch it on it should ask you to sign in with your AppleID.

Also, make sure the contact of the person(s) you are trying to use iMessage with includes the email address they are sending iMessages from. It will not work with phone numbers.

I hope this helps!
