The neatdesk software allows you to rotate the image as desired. Pay close attention to how you load the documents to determine the correct way to load.
paper feeds on printers and scanners can be seriously damaged by thick paper jams. Aside from actually taking the unit apart (which can be daunting) try sliding heavy card stock through the paper path. Don't force it. Sometimes cutting it into a narrow strip (3 or 4 ") helps it slide through.
It sounds like you don't have sufficient access to install this software. I am assuming you are installing from a CD here so here is what I would do. I would Right click on my CD Drive and click Open and look for the Installer for the software you are trying to install. Right Click on the Installer (May be named Setup.exe, Neatdesk.exe) and select Run as Administrator and that should give you sufficient access to run the setup for your receipt scanner.
