Yamaha RV3300 receiver that will not turn on

I have a Yamaha RV3300 receiver that will not turn on. I can hear a click sound whenever I power on while it was working. I can still hear the same click sound when I hit the on button but can not see anything on the displace. There was no response. I did check the fuse and also took it to RadioShack to verify the fuse. It is still good. What can I do?

The Correct Model Number should be RX-V3300. Sorry

Sounds like a relay (there to keep the unit from getting "fried" when there is a malfunction). You need to check that out to get started....

This should help..

SOURCE: Yamaha Receiver RX-V630 not working (resets itself immediately)

This maybe an easy one. Have you unhooked all the wires going in to the stereo. "SP wires" means you have wires to the speakers are touching and the stereo is shutting down to avoid overloading. Hope this helps...

SOURCE: When push the power button, I can hear a relay

When the unit functions correctly, you should hear 2 clicks. The first is the power relay that "starts" the unit. The second is the speaker protection relay that will kick in the speaker connection. If you do not hear the second click, the unit is in protect mode. This means that a problem was detected in the amp section and the unit is prevented from connecting the speakers. This is done to prevent further damage. Typically the output transistors fail and cause this. Expect a parts cost in the $25-$50 range for this repair.

SOURCE: 2006 saturn ion door locks and trunk pop wont work....

The remote won't ework because the problem is in the vehicle. Just for test purposes and possible remedy. Remove and clean the negative battery cable. Ensure a clean , tight connection. Then find the body ground. Yhis ground is locted usually at the top rear of the engine. .I's a snall stainless steel strap bolted to the engine and fire wall, This must olsobe clean with a good contack. Might as well clean the + cable and connection on the battery while you are there. Good luck and keep me posted olease. Good Luck, Ned_

My receiver won't turn on. All I get is a fast

I am sure you have tried and disconnecting all the speakers and taking the unit to another outlet right? If it works you fried your surge and need to replace it. Otherwise the unit went into that strange power protection mode

'clicking' off a few seconds after turned on

Does the receiver work OK?
These are probably electromechanical switches (called relays) which yamaha uses a lot. They use electricity to connect/disconnect something by magnetic force and this causes the "clicks". It is used for example to connect the speakers to the output of apmlifier only after it has finished initializing to protect both the amp and the speakers.
When I turn on my RX-V465 I hear at least one click, it is probably connecting power to the amp. When turning it on with Radio button on remote I hear 3 clicks over 2-3 seconds.
So these clicks are normal and nothing to worry about. They occur also when you switch to the PURE DIRECT mode.

Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver powers off, in case it becomes louder

Hey, yeah that can be frustrating.

When you turn it up do you hear the relay or a clicking sound, then you turn it on and it comes back below the +2db?

Try unplugging All the speaker wires from the unit. Turn on the unit and listen for the click.
after the click, turn it up past the 2+ db mark and see if you hear it click or shut down. If it did not click off, then suspect a shorted crossover on one of your speakers.
2nd test is to plug in One speaker, and test it at high volume, it will not harm it. If it shuts off disconnect that speaker and try another. Only one at a time.
If it works at high volume, you need to isolate one of your speakers and i bet it has a shorted crossover that has been cooked. P.S. If one is bad, suspect they will fail at a later date.
If they all fail, use a friends speaker and try it before sending it to a repair shop.

P.S. i found one on ebay i think you can get for under $100 bucks in the box.

Sounds like the LED that lights up the display has burnt out. An easy fix, if you're not afraid to take the front panel apart and resolder a new one.

Yahama receiver Rx-630 not working

The problem might be caused by two major circumstances. 1)Touching wires 2)Overheating. I suggest you unplug all wires connected to the amp then turn on the amp. If it gets turned on then we know that the problem is that you have touching wires. If there is a short circuit somewhere, get rid of it. The ventilation is another important issue that you have to pay attention. It simply causes overheating.
