Samsung Prostar 816

We had power outage yesterday and now our office phones need re-programmed. We have Prostar 816. Since the power came back on, only one phone is ringing and the held calls are ringing back within a few seconds. We also cannot pick up phone to answer, we have to hit line that's ringing. How do we restore settings to the way they were? Our power went out as well and now the phones will not ring. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

The owners manual sucks. Somehow I got the directions from somewhere else but have since lost and all I need to know is how to change the stinkin speed dial #'s. I can't seem to find written directions anywhere for my model (I'm told it's a 816 but everything I've read isn't right) and I can't get any of the videos to play. :'

If you have a programming manual you can change the settings on your own. If not, you will need to contact the installer or a local interconnect company that services Samsung. It seems as though the memory switch inside the ksu is turned off. If that's the case, it needs to be turned on and if not, you either have problem with the ksu or the power outage was a brownout. Sometimes a very short loss of power can cause corruptions in memory, however I seriously doubt it in this case. Your system is acting as though it's memory has been set to default.

Good Luck,
BB

I have a prostar samsung 816 plus and we have a number of phones in the office and only one is ringing, how can I make them all ring?

To change the ringing on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down, enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming)
enter in #62 the screen should say day ring assn
press the line you wish to program
press the buttons for the extensions that you wish to ring (the ones in the right next to the handset)
press # when finished with the line
repeat steps 2 through 5 for the remainder of the lines you wish to change
press # when finished.

After a series of power outages and brown outs over the weekend, our system has lost all of the predialed #'s and only one phone in the whole office (10 phone) rings.

Hello. Often the aftermath of a power outage is a power surge. If your phone system is not surge protected, this is the likely culprit. The damage done by a surge or several surges can only be assessed with a thorough diagnostic exploration. This has to be done by a technician with the proper diagnostic equipment and know how. j.

Sounds like the system defaulted programming.
Depending on the type of prostar 616 the only ringing station would be 1(or 21) with the porstar or 4(or 24) with the prostar plus.
To change the ringing on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).

To program system speed dial numbersyou need the customer programming enabled (see the first part of programing ringing)
press the ALM/SD button
dial the 2 digit speed dialcode 10-98
dial the telephone number to be stored in that speed dial bank
press ALM/SD to store the number

Samsung 816 power outage dailing an outside line

First thing you should verify a dial tone on the fax machine. (use any analog phone)
If you have dial tone, press 9 and then a number
Second is it conected through tel. system? (did it have an internal extension) and there is no dial tone then your analog port may be fried. Call your telephone vendor. He should be able to help you.
You can purchase a manual for about 10 dollars
Email your system model number to sales at aaa-avad.com for further instructions

The code for hold recall is #52
enter in your hold recall time in sec. and in a 3 digit format. i.e. 30 seconds = 030 a minute and a half is 090 and so on.
press # when finished

it sounds like the memory battery on the main board is no longer working which means that it'll happen again.

The battery is dead and will not maintain system programing after a power outage. If the battery is not replaced this problem will occur everytime the power goes out.

Phones won't ring

Your memory battery on your telephone system is bad. when power is lost , so is the programming. to fix this , you must go into system programming. From any phone, without picking up the handset. Press #20 Dial 12341, Press #. Press # again and dial 62, Press Line 1 and then press the button of each stn you want to ring ,( The display will show 1 if you press stn 1 and so on.) program each line the same way.

Some of the buttons don't work and the Hold function doesn't work

The Prostar 816 phone system can only use Prostar 816 phones. There is a rare larger Prostar system that can use other Prostar phones along with the 816 but typically was only installed in situations where more than 16 phones were needed. If you are looking at non-prostar phones like the Samsung DCS 12 then they certainly will not work.
