ACER AL2671W in stand-by

Hi all. I have a problem that seems common with ACER AL2671W TV. I can not get turned on, ie, remains on standby with front led yellow, even if I press the power button, it remains in stand-by. I have checked the power supply outputs (5, 12 and 24 V) and seem to be correct. I replaced all the electrolytic capacitors on the main board (DA0VT3MB6D6, REV: D), (20 of 470uF/16V 100uF/16V and 8), but television remains on stand-by. I have some questions: * I measured the 100 uF electrolytic capacitors replaced and I've seen values ??such as 2 or 3 uF in several of them. Can anyone confirm that there are only 100 uF electrolytic and 470 uF on this board? * Is it normal that the brown wire (the one that turns the power supply on) is at 5 V when the TV is in standby mode? * I've found that the power switch works. I can see how the input voltage at pin 16 of the microprocessor (microchip PIC16F7) goes from 3.75 V to 0.05 V when I press the power button. I do not see any other microprocesor pin changing. The brown wire is connected to pin 23 which, as mentioned, is high even though the TV is on stand-by. Is it possible that the microprocessor is not working properly? Any suggestions will be very aprecciated. Thank you very much in advance. Regards Guillermo

    Some more data...
Since I am working with this TV, only 3 times started with blue led when I plug it to the wall socket. The TV was working with the display on, but the main power button does not put the TV to stand-by.

SOURCE: Hello, i´m repairing an Acer AL2671W, the

Eooow! Tough one. One of the main reasons why DLP Pictures are "weak" is not due to lamps or main board settings for the screen. The "weak" picture is due to the dirty (and I mean dirty!) mirrors BEHIND and BELOW the main screen, and possibly due to weak or dirty lamps and associated mirrors/lenses. Remove the "Front Screen" completely (not just the outer lens assembly) and check for internal dirt on associated mirrors inside the screen area. Disconnect any cables to the screen controls first (if any).

SOURCE: acer lcd tv al2671w. This LCD TV does not switch

This is a common fault solution which can be checked and corrected by you assuming that there is no component failure . There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance.

The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

Acer AL2671W wont turn on

Sounds like a problem with the power supply board, typically power surges will cause fuses and capacitors to blow. If you go to tvrepairkits .com you can find a power supply kit with instructions that will allow you to repair this problem yourself. They also have coiled solder which works really well...hope this helps.

My Dad has same problem with Acer AL2671W stuck in standby.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Acer AL2671W stuck in standby

This too was my problem... ended up googling my heart out trying to find the solution to this problem and found a blog posting

"AL2671W Stuck in Standby Hey - I fixed a TV! It' s been a long time actually since I did something useful for someone. I got asked to look at an Acer AL2671W LCD TV. Bought for about £500 five years ago, and that was cheap then, recently it has regularly refused to come out of standby. Now it is stuck in Standby and won't work. So where do you start? Google of course! Some results showed that this was a common fault on these TV's. One guy in a forum said 'easy fix, replace C280 100uF 16V on the main board'. Good enough of a clue to take a look. You have to firstly remove the SCART socket block before the back will come off and then the inner metal cover over the PSU, audio card and main card as mentioned before. It looks just like a mini ATX card. It is a multi layer, double sided PEC with surface mount and traditional components. Bad news though, no C280 to be found. I buzzed through the front power switch to check it wasn't stuck and traced the cabling to the socket on the main board. Very close by the socket is C380, this is an electrolytic 100uF 16V. Too much of a coincidence? Anyway worth a punt I thought so I changed it for an 100uF 40V I think it was and re-assembled the TV. It worked! the TV now comes out of standby and has been returned to its owners. Result! Posted by andychamb"

I end up finding an old ATI card (since it was unsupported with win7) that had the same value capacitor and replaced C380, located around the centre, bottom left corner (the left one). works like a dream.
