Lynn, the problem lies with the gas regulator and the way you turn the tank ON. But it's readily solvable.
1. Turn the tank valve OFF & disconnect the hose from the tank.
2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.
3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).
4. Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set it on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burners the exact same way. Do all the flame heights look correct? If so, your solved the problem. Always remember to open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.
If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. They run about $30.00 at any hardware store or home center that sells grills and accessories. Simply take you old one with you for comparison purposes.
Hope this helped you troubleshoot & solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
First and foremost, make sure the gas tank valve is turned ON and that there is adequate gas in the tank. If that all checks out, do the following:
1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF.
2. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes.
3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).
4. Once the valve is full open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same way. Did all the burners light and the flame heights look normal. I so, you just solved the problem (with a little help).
Remember to always turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.
If it didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Regulator/Hose Assembly. You can purchase on at any home center or hardware store that sell gas grills and accessories for about $30.00. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.
Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!
Does the flame height, when turned to HIGH on the burners, appear to be lower than normal? If so, it's one of two things:
1. You are low or about ready to run out of gas in the tank. Check gas level in tank.
2. The grill's regulated is partially locked up. Turn the tank valve OFF. Disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the grill first and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and does the flame height look correct? If so. light the remaining burners the same way. Do ALL of the flame heights look correct? If so, you solved the problem. Remember to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.
If none of the above solved the problem and (hint) the burners are clean and not clogged. You need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can purchase one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. They run about $30.00. Take your old one with you, just for comparison purposes.
Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks and Happy Grilling!!
Don't worry, you'll be grilling in no time, if you follow these instructions:
1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF.
2. Disconnect the grill's hose from the propane tank and wait 5 minutes.
3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank's gas valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow Motion, slow).
Once the valve is fully open light one burner and turn it to HIGH. Has the flame height returned to normal? If so, light the remaining burner and turn it to HIGH. Do both flame heights look normal? If so, you solve the problem! Remember to always turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.
Hope this helped you. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!
Mike, there can be some pressure problems, but it's not the new tank. However, it does cause the problem and here's how you resolve it.
1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF. 2. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. 3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). 4. Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn the burn to HIGH. Does the burner light and the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burners the same way. Now, do all the burner flames look as the should? If co, you solved the problem. Always remember to turn the tank valve ON very, very slowly>
If the above did not solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can pick one up at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. It will run you about $30.00 (+/-) .
Hope this helped you to solve the problem Please let me know & Happy Grilling!!
Either your burners need cleaning and/or the grill's regulator is locked up or the tank is low on gas.. This occurred when you either changed the tank or turned the tank valve ON. It happens very frequently. To solve the regulator problem, due the following:
Turn the gas tank valve OFF. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow)). Once the valve is fully open, turn the burner ON. light it and turn the flame to the highest setting. Did the flame height return to normal? If so, you solved the problem. Remember to always turn the tank valve ON very, very slowly.
If the above didn't solve the problem and you've thoroughly cleaned the burner and the venturi valve, then you'll need to replace the grill hose/regulator assembly. You can purchase one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.
Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling!!
Susan - Assuming that you have a Propane grill with a grill tank, that has plenty of gas in the tank. Do the following:
Turn the Propane tank valve OFF.
Disconnect the hose from the tank.
Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank valve.
Turn the Tank Valve ON, VERY, VERY SLOWLY (slow motion, slow).
Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from tank, first.
Turn the burner flame to High. Has the flame height returned to normal? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same way.
Have all the burner flames returned to normal? If so, you solved the problem.
Always remember, when turning the tank valve ON, do it VERY, VERY Slowly.
If the above did not solve your problem, you will need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly. You can find them at any home center or hardware store that sell grills and accessories. Be sure to take you old one with you for comparison purposes.
Hope this helped you solve your problem. Please be kind enough, not to forget to rate my response to you. Thanks and Happy Grilling!!
does the same burner flame turn blue if other burners decreast in flow-with that burner on high and others low-is it still yellow? if so Gas Valve needs to be replaced.
I had this same problem especially when the tank on my 5 burner 2 year-old Kenmore was about half full. The solution above fixed it. I was used to opening the gas fully, turning one burner to high and clicking the button. If I would have read the front of the grill I would have seen that this was incorrect. I turned off the grill completely, unhooked the regulator and reconnected it. With one burner on high I began clicking the button BEFORE I turned on the gas. I slowly turned the gas on one quarter turn and it lit up full flame. I slowly turned the gas another quarter turn and lit the second burner. I slowly opened the gas all the way and lit the third and so on. That did the trick!
What is this - the only way I get a fix is if I pay for it...
Thanks for nothing... I guess I'll just make a phone call..
