I have owned subject TV model for about a year. A couple of days ago it started developing a particular problem: when turned on the audio could be heard but not image on the screen. It is the same thing for both TV and external video inputs. After some hours, I turned it on and everything was normal again. To my surprise the problem came on this morning again. This erratic operation started immediatley we moved to a new house, but I do not recalled the TV being dropped or anything like that.

Hi. You can try to go into service mode and reset the LCDTV to Factory Default. This will clear out all buffer over run's and any software related issues. It may fix the problem or it may not. If this doesnt fix the problem than you need to have a qualified Technician to look at it. The problem is in the AV circuit board, a technician who is qualified to repair electronics at circuit board level should be able to repair this problem rather quickly and inexpensively. Most technicians who do not have the expertise in repairing cicuit boards to component level would rather replace the whole AV board than repair it and this will be rather expensive. So talk to the repair shop before you drop the TV off.
Be very careful when accessing service mode. I suggest to write down all information in all areas before proceeding to a factory reset. If you do not record all values correclty you run the chance of not being able to use the TV again. To go into Factory Service mode, use the original remote and in this sequence push POWER OFF-MUTE-1-8-2-Power ON, the set will turn on and enter service mode, if you hit all previous keys correctly. If it doesnt try again. When you are done hit POWER OFF and this will exit service mode and save the data.

The problem is 4 capacitors on the power supply board. Just had mine done under warranty. They (Sears) replaced the whole power board but you can get larger capacitors and just replace those for alot cheaper if not under warranty.

It's a pretty common problem. (If this is a plasma your post says lcd but it came up under plasma.) The no picture but sound problem is usually the y sus board. I've replaced 2 on mine now. The 680uf 35V capacitors usually are bulging because one of the power transistors went and took them out. This has happened to both of the y boards I had. One time the failing y board took out the buffer boards too, and once it did not. The fix is super simple and anyone with even the most rudimentary knowledge of computers or electronics can do the labor yourself. You should do the simple stuff first by just doing a quick test with a multimeter. Just check the power coming to the y board. After that you can just remove the y board by removing 3 cables and like 3 screws. Plug in the new board and it's done! You can source the parts from a place like shopjimmy or discount merchant. 3 boards were like 200 bucks. 1 board is like 100 bucks. Labor took me 15min. Think about that the next time an electronics repair place charges you 1000 dollars. Of course they check everything (Yeah right) and warranty their work (I don't) but if you check the service manual it states that this is the most common repair. Look for the Canadian manual online. Hope this helps!

I have a similar problem, last couple of days when I turn the TV on the picture appears to have interference (this includes in built tuner, Sky Tv and independant DVD) after a few attempts at turning it off and on again eventuakky (5-10 minutes) it corrects it self. I did send the tv back to the supplier who checked it out and found nothing wrong
Any suggestions / help please
