Cannot change transmission rate of Linksys WRT160N

I'm trying to connect to Nintendo WFC with my nintendo DS. It connects successfully in the WCSettings. but when im in the game and about to launch it, it says connected to access point but cannot connect to nintendo WFC~~ Error 61020. so i researched and the instructions for my router was: DS Change the 'rate' to 1-2 mbps, and the TX rate to 2mbps. These settings can be found on the 'Wireless' Tab, under the 'Advanced Wireless Settings' sub-tab. ~~so i followed it but when i go to change the TX rate, it is unchngable and stuck on default. please help :((

SOURCE: Cannot find wireless tab on Linksys router setup page

Hi...this is an unusual problem.

Is your model the BEFSR41W? Linksys describe this as a 'wireless ready router', and it seems to require a PCMCIA card to be inserted in the back of the router, to enable wireless connectivity.

I'm just wondering if the router lost communication with the card, causing your wireless options to disappear?

However, first things first. As you have (correctly) reset the router, all your settings have been cleared, including ISP information (hence the internet connection is lost). Your first priority is to set up your router again, and the Linksys website has a downloadable manual, quick install guide and tips which will help with this.

When you are up and running - and assuming I have the right model - try removing and re-inserting the PCMCIA card at the back of the router, and see if the router re-detects it. If successful, this should bring back your wireless options.

I hope this helps, but please post again on Fixya if not. It does seem odd to have lost the wired connection before the reset.
Good luck. :)

SOURCE: Laptops stopped connecting wireless

check if you’re computer is properly connected wirelessly to the Linksys router, you will need to perform six steps:

  1. Checking the IP Address of the PC
  2. Checking the Wireless Settings on a Linksys Router
  3. Disabling Computer's Firewall
  4. Disabling Proxy Settings
  5. Pinging the Router
  6. Pinging the Internet
Checking the IP Address of the PC
The IP address of the computer is another indication that the computer is properly connected to the router.

Checking the Wireless Settings on a Linksys Router
The router’s wireless settings should match the wireless settings of the wireless adapter in order for them to communicate.

Disabling Computer Firewall
Make sure that the computer firewall and any third party firewall installed in the computer is disabled. With a firewall enabled on your computer, you may get an invalid IP address. In such cases we have to disable any firewall installed on your PC.

Disabling Proxy Settings
If you have proxy settings, you need to disable these on your computer. If a computer is accompanied by a router, the gateway for the Internet connection, it no longer needs to get any proxy settings to gain access.

NOTE: If you are using Mac to disable the computer's proxy settings.

Pinging the Router
Ping test helps trace the communication between the computer and the router. The computer sends packets to the router and in return the router sends out replies to validate the connection.

Pinging the Internet
Ping test helps trace the communication between the computer, the router and the internet. To check the computer’s connection to the Internet you should get valid replies when you perform a ping test

How do you get internet on the Nintendo DS Lite Console

I ran into this recently when we got a wireless network at our house. In order to browse the internet on your DS Lite, you need some kind of browser software, which can be purchased.
http://www.nintendodslitebundle.org/how-to-get-internet-on-nintendo-ds-lite

It should be noted that the DS Lite is only able to connect to a wireless network that is encrypted with a WEP password. It cannot connect to a network encrypted with a WPA or WPA2 password. Unfortunately (for the DS Lite), a lot of wireless networks are making WPA the standard, because it is more secure. However, you can change the settings of your wireless network (typically) so that it is encrypted with a WEP password. Just be aware that this makes your network less secure.

My ds gave me an error code 51099

This just means there is a problem with the wifi's settings or what you are trying to connect to is broadcasting something incompatible. I'm going to copy the link to Nintendo's help section. (I ain't gonna type that much ;-]) Basically all you neeed to do is try creating a new connection.

This should get you going.
