Kenmore sewing machine model 385.15202/15208 will not feed forward reverse lever will not release, to go foward or backwards when sewing. The feed dog sews garment in reverse mode, I have to turn the sewing machine around the back, in order to sew a stitch forward!! Please help! Thank You!

Knowing which kind of machine you have helps alot. Just guessing but maybe the reverse mechanism is stuck and needs some oil in it to free it up. Or the buttonhole mechanism is stuck in reverse part of it.
Probably you should have it looked at.

As long as this is a sewing machine and not a serger, I don't know about them. I only tinker on my own. Remove the bottom. There is a rod running along the length of the machine. it needs to be turned 180 degrees. You may need to retime the machine.

I surfed around this site for various suggestions, finally took the bottom plate off and cleaned and oiled all the parts along that rod that goes right across (think it's a drive bar that rotates). Ran the machine without thread in for a few minutes to let the oil soak in. Machine now works fine.

this is caused by uneven winding of the bobbin, sometimes the spool of thread winds unevenly when it travels up and down the spool. the best solution i have found is to use small spools of thread when winding the bobbins
