Why does the radio volume go up without turning it up?

The volume is fine for a few minutes, and then goes up as loud as it will go without the knob being touched. You have to manually hold the knob in the low position to keep the volume down, thus, not allowing the radio to be used. Is this a switch? I am pretty handy. Is this something that can be easliy replaced?

Hello
It is an electronic component mistake in the circuit board. Even though the volume is controlled by a knob, it actually works in cnjuction with and electronci circuit, usually controlled by an IC in some sets or with a transistor with others. You have to find out the faulty component on board. It is really a skilled work. Eventhough the faulty component won't cost more, loacating it is a skilled job indeed. You must have thorough knoledge in electronics, and the schematic diagram of your set. You must have knoledge to follow the schematic diagram too. You may be pretty handy, but this is not enough find out the faulty component. Must be an expert and must have succician expereince in repairing electronic circuits. OK.

I have a yaesu ft-736r with no audio

Hi Jermaine,

It transmits, but no receive, are you sure, have you tried playing around with the volume control?

If, so did that make any crackling noise? If so, then this is due to lack of use of the volume control, many radios, including the old transistors with dials, would make crackling sounds when you adjusted the volume, and as I say, this is due to lack of use, So if this is the case and to get your receiving, turn the volume control up & down fully for a few minutes and while doing so your radio might receive a transmission that will be loud, quiet, loud, quiet, etc., as you play with the knob.

Keep doing so until all crackling has disapeared.

Do this often as possible when firing up your radio for the day, the more use these controls get, the better.

I hope this has answered your query.

Cheers,
Peter

How do I set the clock on my Pioneer DEH-P6200 cd receiver?

With the vehicle on, turn OFF the radio. Next, Press the Volume and hold the VOLUME knob. You should see LANGUAGE on the display. Scroll the VOLUME knob until you see CLOCK SET. Pres the VOLUME knob and the HOUR will start flashing. Scroll the VOLUME knob to set the hour then Press it to set the Minutes. When you're finished. Turn off the radio, then turn it back on. When the radio is in use, the Radio Station will scroll on the display, then the Artist information, then after a few seconds (20-30), the Clock will display.

I Have a Radio Shack Pro 95, thats loud or freaking loud.

Could be that you wore out the volume knob, or may have turned it too far in either direction. If its the knob itself then depending on your experience working on electronic equipment and the ability to get a replacement knob you can maybe fix it yourself or may have to send it into Radio Shack for them to repair it.
If the knob turns real easy you probably have a worn out knob.

I am having problems with the volume knob. The

That is a dirty pot switch.. The volume adjusting pot gets dirty.. Two things to try..

1.) With the unit off - spinn the volume min to max many many times at a rapid pace.. This sometimes will displace the debris in the pot..

If that does not work --

2.) Get some "tuner cleaner" in a spray can.. At Radio Shack or a similar store.. Lay the radio on its back so the volume knob is facing up.. Pull the knob off carefully.. Use short controlled bursts of the spray.. A few sprays and spin the knob min to max several times and repeat..

Good luck..
