Power cord I need to know what kind of cord to get for this compaq 1700 6233/S/3200. It has a plug site for a 3 prongs and all the cords I find online show a single yellow tipped plug in to plug into the computer. Is it possible this one doesn't have a transformer? We inherited it from a family member who doesn't know.

Wow no country stated, oops, they all be different.! (laws and voltages are not the same world wide !)
the PC run on low voltage. only
called a power pack, that converts 120 to 250vac to 19vdc
on most HP. but HP bought compaq in 2001?
so the DC voltages can very on the early ones.
why not buy matching power pack on ebay.
do not wire it to AC 120vac, are you in USA? if not other line voltage are even higher, in South America,240vac is common.
if hot wire it ,i promise it catches fire.! how is that. for facts.
this is the US cord only, HP sold 17 cords for 17 matching counties. the USA p/n HP is : cord only.

now lets EBAY this. power packs, and cords

From the specs on this laptop it is unusual as it has a built in power supply unit . Hence the three prong power socket on the laptop. This flee bay link below shows the actual internal power supply however it does not state what the supply in voltage is rated at . It may work on both ? It may need to be switched depending on the power supply. If may need a replacement internal power supply board to match your countries power point supply voltage and frequency.https://www.ebay.com/itm/COMPAQ-ARMADA-1...

You will have difficulty buying it from HP as they took over compaq . It is listed on HP spare parts websites as a discontinued spare part .

This model has a 110v or 220v power supply built into it.
Make Sure it the matching required voltage on its case if you plug 220v power point into a 110v rated power supply inside the laptop it will let out lots of smoke and stop working !

The part number is 255135-AA1

    transformer?
that is good word, as it has power pack
it really a AC to DC power-converter pack.
never never ever try bypass any power pack made. or you will get on fire or shocked.
    even *****.
my guess you lost the cord
    you can buy a cord
or even a whole new pack for it for dirt cheap.

SOURCE: Compaq R4000 Power Issue

poor deb---

are you referring to the fan assemblies that go all the way across the back , including over the jack? It comes out in one piece, there are screws at the forward and kind of hidden and hard to get to without completely disassembling the entire thing. I think you'll see that the little piece that comes up and over the jack is part of the fan assembly.

The hp website has a service/hardware manual that has blow-apart illustrations in it...that's how I found it, and you will too.

it's called---

SOURCE: Notebook power problem

make sure the new A/C adaptor and battery are working correctly.then check the charging circuitry or power distribution in the laptop
This can be caused by:

1.The monitor is not connected properly.
2. Bad hardware

Verify that the monitor is properly connected in the back of the monitor as well as to the back of the computer.

If the connections are OK it means that monitor or the video card is probably damaged. To test which component is dameged connect a different monitor to your computer or connect your monitor to a different computer.

If the other monitor works on your computer it means that your monitor is bad and if your monitor works on another computer it means that you probably have a damaged video card.

SOURCE: My power cord is loose. It plugs in and charges,

Hello !

If I'm understanding you correctly, the wiggle is from the laptop. Sounds like a problem is about to happen. Your Presario has a loose power jack (connector inside the laptop). It is a part that can be replaced.

If you need further info, let us know.

Hope this helps.

My dryer's power cord has 4 prongs, my wall socket has 3 holes, can I change the power cord, or is there an adapter to change from 4 to 3 pronges.

Un screw the 2 hex screws from the back of the dryer where the cord goes in.

There will be 3 screws that connect the cord to the dryer, loosen or remove them to remove the 4 prong cord.

A hardware store will carry the 3 prong cord you need, tell them it is for a dryer.

Re-connect the 3 prong cord to the dryer.

Plug in and test after you have installed the new cord.

Can you tell me how to hookup the three wires of 3 prong cord to the back of dryer that came with 4 wires(4 prong)? Which one goes where? I only have 3 prong plugs at my house. Thank you.

The following link explains how to connect a power cord to your appliance:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion

Now keep in mind, some newer appliances REQUIRE a 4-prong plug in order to work properly. You may consider having a four-prong outlet installed to accomodate your dryer.

You can try these steps by referring to to section that discusses converting from a 4-prong to a 3-prong power cord.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

The Power Cord came loose and has been lost!

radio shack would be my starting point. if there are any computer solutions or stores in your area go in and ask em if they have a used power cord should be the same as the power cord for the tower itself.

Power Suply Cord

If the cord is the ONLY item you need and NOT the terminal block in the dryer, then Home Depot sells replacement cords with a molded plug attached as well as ring lugs on the opposite end for terminating them on the dryer block. You'll need to know if you are using a 3-prong or 4- prong set up in order to get the correct cord. Hope this helps..

The website gives no information about how to order it via them but they have a contact page that gives a sales email addy as well as hr and gen inquiries. I have sent an email today to see if they can direct me in the right direction to get a power supply for this monitor. Hint: If you got to the site you will have to change the language to english on the main page of the site since this company is a chinese company their site will automaticy come up in chinese except for the word english that the top that will convert the site to english. I will post another response if I hear back. I sent the email just a few minutes ago.
