Hello, I have a mitsubishi dlp rear projection tv that has a very dark picture. We have replaced the bulb, some of the capacators and cleaned the mirror and the picture is still very dark. Any ideas as to what else could be wrong with it?? We got the tv used and it is likely 3 years old.
Same problem, I bought mine about 3 years ago and it seems like the picture so dark even though the lamp was replaced. The color just isn't bright.Same problem, I bought mine about 3 years ago and it seems like the picture so dark even though the lamp was replaced. The color just isn't bright.

Brenda, Your projection bulb is about to die. Go on eBay, so a search for the bulb. Only buy a genuine Mitsubishi bulb to replace it. Or order one of these;http://www.shopjimmy.com/mitsubishi-wd-65c9 Get one of the "assemblies".
Removing and replacing the bulb unit is SUPER easy. Unplug the TV!! You unscrew the one screw on the litle door and the lower right, back side of the TV, then unscrew those two screws that hold in the unit, and slide it out. Slide in the replacement, and tighten everything up. Put the door back on, and plug it in.
Hello
Its bulb has got traoubled or its control circuit has some faut with it. it is not a user serviceable item. Replacing bulb can be done by the user according to the instructions in its user manual. But trouble shooting its control section must be done be any experienced service technician. OK.
The tv projection lamp have problems,it shorting out some how. That why,u have a dim picture.Tries websites like Partstore.com,Ebay.com to buy a new projection lamp for the replacement.New tv,call mitsubishi for a warrenty repair.
It could be that the picture tubes have gone down on emission, there is a prcedure that can be tried to bring up the overall brightness but it is just possible that you will loose some picture quality. If it's a 1994 projo tv i am thinking of the three crt system, a gray scale alignment would probably correct the dark condition in your picture, again depending on how far gone is the emission in your picture tubes, if your projo tv is the dlp system, the bad news is that you could be needing some light engine repair. The color adjustment is possible with the availability of a service manual or in the case of the dlp system, light engine repairs or replacement are available from some on line stores.
Did you use a generic replacement? Many TVs have a dark picture after replacing the original lamp with a generic. The other issue I've encountered are TVs that have been exposed to cigarette smoke will develop a dark, discolored picture over a relatively short time.
there are 2 mirrors did you clean both there is one down in front near the light source when front screen removed lean in and look down there is another smaller mirrorclean it
