I realize this is an old thread.. but just in case, here are some probable causes..
If you are projecting a computer signal, a short in the blue signal of the VGA cable can cast yellow hues over your image. The hue will cover the entire image as if you are viewing the image "through rose (or in this case, lemon) colored glasses" so to speak.
Or, similarly the blue LCD panel is weaking and/or gone bad.

If you have a round yellowish spot in the middle of your screen, the diffuser has been overheated and is "burnt".

Change the bulb on NCE v260X and I still have white snow flake when I turn it on

Have you adjusted the contrast and Keystone. A new bulb should be plenty bright. Maybe clean the lens. There is in some types of Projectors a color wheel inside this can become dusty. But not often if you keep the filters in place and clean them. This could cause a snowy picture as well. Hard to say without actually seeing the picture to say what the issue could be. But these are some of the stronger possiabilities.

The image on screen is almost a dirty yellow colour and not sharp at all. Also where do I purchase new filters from?

Hi,
A yellowing image, especially if it's circular in shape indicates the BLUE LCD polarizer is burned from overheating or just a lot of hours on it & it needs to be replaced to make the yellow go away. You can purchase a new filter from hundreds of online retailers. Just do a search on Google for "NEC VT595 Filter"
REPAIRS:
If you're interested I do replace the polarizer filter panels. I have parts in stock for the NEC VT595. The repair quote is $50 & if you have it repaired the $50 is put toward the repair. The repair will include cleaning all the LCD panels, filters, lenses, etc. on the inside which will bring back the original sharp picture again. If you like you can email me at [email protected] for more information on having it repaired.
Thank You,
Jim Peters

I have a NEC mt1055 and the unit just had new bulb put in here and it has the power and standby light come on and the fan doesn't turn on here and the standby light is yellow and status is red

The NEC’s work on a reducing time basis, they count the hours that they have been operational and refer to this as the life of the bulb – 1600 hours. When the 1600 hours has been reached the projector shuts itself down into standby mode never to be restarted even after changing the bulb / filters. This is because the unit needs to be reset, which needs to be done as follows (not included in any of the bulb replacement instructions):-
  • Plug Projector in so it is in standby mode – Orange light lit, Red status light lit (not flashing)
  • Using the remote control, hold down the power off button for 30-45 seconds
  • This will reset the status button, removing the red light
  • Power up the projector and select Menu
  • Select Projector Options
  • Select Set-up – a number of tabs will appear called pages
  • Arrow across the pages (MT850 is Page 5) until an option called “RESET LAMP HOURS” is shown
  • Move onto this option and press enter on the projector itself, confirm that you want to reset the counter
  • Projector is now back to life

This works for all NEC projectors, the page number may be different though where the “RESET LAMP HOURS” option resides.

NEC VT 480, replaced new lamp ,still low brightness.

if you remove the lamp, inside the lamp housing you will see a refraction (fly-eye) lens. these evenly distribute the lamp light. the one on the other side from the one you see (there are always 2 lenses) is probably burnt and needs replacing (a common problem with lcd projectors). you will have to send it in to nec. in many of their projectors, both lenses are in one assembly.

NEC Model VT48 - need to clean filter

This is a solution for the VT 480 by NEC for filter clean. on the left side there are two slots that have dust filters which can slide vertically to reveal micro screens that one can blow, tap vigorously, or vacuum to remove any dust build up. I hope this helps you with your unit.

My picture brightness is uneven - there is a persistant bright field on my screen.

I have the exact same problem with my AE700. It a started about the same time, around 2500 hours for me. I lived with it untill I could afford a new bulb which arrived yesterday. The old bulb was still working at a 3603 hours when I installed the new one. But the new bulb didn't fix the problem for me either. I may try to take it apart this weekend and give it a good cleaning. Andy
