Insignia TV040919 Dead lightning surge. AC fuse okay. Any ideas. Do you have main board number for this product?

Being in the field of electronics I can not stress this enough....POWER SURGE PROTECTION...and I am not talking about a power strip with "surge protection"...they are useless. That being said you had a surge that most likely blew out your main power board. There is a fuse on that board and if you are lucky that popped and it is an easy fix. If not, you will have to remove the board, get the numbers on it and search out a replacement. There are plenty of places online to get them but I use Allied Electronics. One thing to check while you have the tv apart is to check all boards for visible burn marks or damage from the surge.

Check all the AC input connections. As the power board is new, the TV should show standby light at least, when you switch it ON.

Check whether there is a line fuse inserted at AC path. Check whether there is a plug-fuse included inside the power plug.

Could be minor or maybe done for but here goes. Some flat panel TVs have the main power cord with one of those small transformers built into the plug end that converts 120volt ac to DC power. Output voltage should be listed on the transformer tag. You need to find someone with a voltage tester and see if the TV plug end is showing DC voltage. If not the complete power cord needs replaced. If that checks out-- the next thing is to remove the complete TV back cover and look for fuses right near the power plugs into the TV. The fuses should blow out first from a lighting surge. The problem is how much of a surge you got. It may have damaged the power supply board in the TV which may need replaced. Hope this helps

No internal fuses, sorry. If the power surge cam in on the AC power line then the external power adapter in most likely dead. You can check the output power with a multitester set to DC voltage, it should be 32volts. If it is bad then you need to replace it, they are available on Ebay here:

If the power surge came in on the phone line and you had it connected to use it as a fax then the main logic board will need to be replaced. You would need to get the HP number on the side of your logic board to order one of these, there are several versions and you need your number to get the correct one.

Lightning can cause serious damage. You will surely want to get a professional diagnoses. What is damaged depends on where the surge came in at, and the intensity of the surge. If the surge came in through the power cable, most likely your power supply board has damage. But I have seen situations where the surge came in though an HDMI or coax connection and just take out the main board. But the moral of the story is to get a proper diagnoses, you could have several boards damaged.

Check the fuses on the power supply board first. They usually blow when you get a power surge. You may be able to replace them and get the TV running for a few dollars. If the fuses are good then the power supply board will be the issue. The main board should not be damaged because the surge has to go through the power supply board first.

This unit needs to be sent or taken in to a service center for complete testing and service. The lightning strike has caused a component failure, in the main board of the television. check on crt board green amp transister and associated ckt should be short. or green drive transister,or main jungle ic which drive green signal is sure defective, i had the same problem in rca 32 inch tv for all screen red,replacing chroma ic solved the problem.
