Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus Power Adapter Logo

I have a marshall JCM 100 watt guitar tube head that totally crashed when plugged into the voodoo lab power +2 .

I also tried the same pedal setup and voodoo lab power +2 with my laney 50 watt combo tube amp and it also likewise crashed. on both the result was the same - all the tubes were running and the lights were all on tho i couldn't get any sound whatsoever from either amp and right before the amps totally crashed, there was a crackling sound coming out of the speakers and then a very loud POP and then nothing but lights tho no sound at all. the marshall blew a fuse which i replaced and tho the amp is now running it has this horrible pop sound when i put it on standby. the laney i managed to pull the plug quickly enough before it did any real damage after seeing that it was reacting the same way as the marshall had previously so it played the rest of the night fine AFTER i took the voodoo lab power +2 out of the loop and just ran my pedals on batteries. the only common denominator to my problem is the voodoo lab power +2. neither of my amps EVER had a problem before i hooked up the voodoo lab power +2.

everything was hooked up right. ohms, cables, etc. speaker is fine -- its the head. as i mentioned -- the laney ran PERFECT ALL NIGHT -- AFTER I TOOK THE VOODOO LAB OUT OF THE LOOP. the marshall head is running tho except its now got this loud POP when you put it on standby. i've never had ANY problem with either amp

i find it totally impossible to believe that BOTH my amps experienced the exact same problem -- as i mentioned, the only common denominator is the voodoo lab power +2. THANK YOU ALL WHO ARE TRYING TO HELP ME SOLVE THIS -- YOUR HELP IS SO GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

the unreliable AC current solution seems to be a real possibility, cause i'm looking for some kind of common denominator here since BOTH amps were affected on the same night in the same exact way tho if that is so wouldn't my surge protector have popped? the surge protector never popped.

How do you have the DIP switches set? That controls the voltages.

SOURCE: Marshall JCM 2000 dual super lead 50 watt going out on me

Very nice amp!

First off, is the amp getting sufficient power? An unreliable AC current from your wall can affect the performance.

Have you tried the amp with a different speaker? Checked for a loose connection from the amp to the speaker? Is it the correct ohms rating?

Second, are you experienced in electronics? The problem could lie in a faulty solder connection, a bad component, etc.

If you are not confident in opening the amp and troubleshooting it yourself, take it to a audio repairman. Marshall's are some of the easier ones to fix.....

MY Marshall JCM 2000 100Watt head is quiet TURNED fully on stand by OFF and ready to plug guitar into the INPUT Jack. Soon as I plug into the INPUT Jack cracking noise hissing noise.

I would suspect a bad cable. Also, these symptoms show up if you mistakenly use a speaker cable (unsheided) as a guitar cable (shielded).

Sounds like a sure sign your tubes are on their last legs. I'd get those tested before doing anything else.

It sounds like you have a dead guitar cable or the preamp section of the amp is blown. It needs to go to the shop. It's way cheaper in the long run to just take an amp in. If you try poking around without knowing what you're doing you can fry something more expensive or worse yet yourself! There are leathal voltages in a guitar amp!

I'm trying to add a Digitech X Series EX-7

You CANNOT use the Voodoo as it outputs DC voltage and the EX-7 requires an AC voltage and of 9 VAC and also 1.3 amps at that.

I have a marshall JCM 900 when I plug in my foot switch and try to play it pops and cracks .I know it's not the foot switch or my guitar.I checked the tubes they look alright so what part is broke in my...

I doubt that you have checked the tubes... tube checker's are rarity now and you can't look at a tube and "tell it is alright". If you leave the footswitch out does it do the same thing?
The probllem could be many things...and you haven't mentioned how you tested the items you are exhonorating. A common problem is a noisy or broken INPUT jack. Musicians forget to loop the guitar cord through the handle and the cord gets moved and yanked sideways wearing the jack and often breaking internal parts. Yjos also goes for the cord to the footswitch as well. Cords and connectors/jacks are the common problems. Less common but frequent are damaged volume control pots due to damage when handling... including broken solder where these attach to the circuit boards.

This is a problem I would recommend for a qualified Marshall amp service person to look at. Worst case scenario is that somehow the speaker out put transformer or the power transformer burned out. They aside from output tubes are the most expensive parts to replace. Add shop labor on top. Ask for an estimate first. Consider how much a new amp will cost and then decide. I would personally go for the repair myself.
