My Oster wine refrig won't lower its temperature below 76 degrees. I have it for about 5 months, and it worked fine all this time with a setting of 50 degrees. Now it refuses to lower its temp. It reverts back to 76 everytime. Can someone give me any ideas about what is wrong? FYI Mine did not come with an owner's manual.
Have had this product for about 10 months now and it worked fine until the other day and fortunately I happened to check it. It is in a location of the house not used frequently and it has a strong odor of a fried circuit card. Tried to call number in book, not available. Called number on web site, stated high volume of calls cannot take my call right now. Filled out the website information to have them contact me. Will see what happens.Have had this product for about 10 months now and it worked fine until the other day and fortunately I happened to check it. Sounds like the Thermostat is bad. http://www.oster.com/CustService.aspx?content=manual The tel # in your Oster Manual is a recording and will not help you! your home may not be insulated well enough or you could have leaking duct or your system may not be charged correctly ac systems are not sized to cool below 76 degrees above 90 degrees outdoors because this will increase your utility bills during the cooler temperatures. thank your governement and all the regulations we have to follow for this. they would rather you save money than be comfortable. and we are actually in violation of state law and federal law if we install a unit that will cool below 76 degrees on 90 degree outdoor temp
Viking wine coolers are made by Marvel. They all had issues with freezing the contents. If you replace the electronic cold control system it will be fine.If you don't, it will freeze the wine popping the corks and leaking in the unit.If you get the parts from Marvell they are much cheaper.
ok im at a loss as to why you would want a refer at this temp. but i will tell you no, this unit cannot maintain that high a temp. it can be tricked into it
but that involves odd wiring and changes in the baffel; system
at the risk of a bad rating i am sorry to be the bearer of bad news
Hi, could be faulty thermostat, can you check compressor, is compressor running (working), listen to compressor for clicking sound, unplug it(switched off) for about 20 minutes, replug and let it run (work) for another 20 mins. see if temp. drops, what about temp. inside bottle (wine) cooler, is it 98 or colder, more info. could be valuable. check thermostat, check to see if compressor operates, if cooler temp. 98. remove you products, to another cooler, call mechanic.
Not sure, but did you clean the filter in the back? Ours has that, and the temp starts creeping up every few weeks until I clean it. But we've never been able to get it below 58 or so, and in the last year, not below 60. I think that's just the nature of this type of cooling. Our house is also at 80. But, can keep it at 60 with the above cleaning.
Here is the breakdown on this machine by temperature - it only works optimally in a room that is 68-70 degrees, which is a little on the cold side:
to actually reach 7 degrees Celsius, the room temp must be 68 degrees Farenheit or below
to reach 9 C, room must be 70 F or below
to reach 11 C, room must be 72 F or below
ETC...
all problems with this wine cellar will be aggravated during the summer months
I think your problem is a fuse in back panel has burnt out....you will need to replace it, Tthere are two fuses and one is easy to see and as usual the easy fuse is not the problem, the fuse you need to replace is probably the one in a black shrink rap on top left side of the panel. You will need to cut shrink rap off fuse and find wires. Next step cut and solder in new fuse. I belive the fuse used is a 5 amp 250v, I put in a 6 amp to repair.
Oster 12-Bottle cellar refuses to lower its temperature below 70º.
temp says 71 and will not go down
